JOB OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The District Account Manager position for Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) will play a crucial role in driving sales growth, ensuring customer satisfaction, and optimizing technical and account management programs. This role is responsible for implementing and maximizing the value of PROact while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, including digital transformation. Working closely with the Sales team, Business Development, and Operations Manager, the District Account Manager provides on-the-ground support for key initiatives such as Management of Change (MOC) projects, customer retention strategies, and account development. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and training sales teams, ensuring competency and alignment with best practices. This position requires a proactive, results-driven individual with strong leadership and relationship management skills. Although it does not include direct reports unless specifically agreed, the role demands close collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent delivery of value-driven solutions. A high level of travel is required to support field activities including offshore, making adaptability and problem-solving essential competencies for success.

What You will do:

  • Provide technical support and expertise to customers, offering innovative solutions to optimize performance and address operational challenges.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives that drive operational excellence, improve service delivery, and support the company's overall strategic vision.
  • Collaborate closely with TSA teams to provide technical expertise and ensure effective implementation of technical solutions for customers
  • Work with the sales team to implement and maximize the value derived from PROact by identifying and tracking key performance indicators.
  • Identify and implement Account & Technical program improvements, including digital enhancements, to drive efficiency and customer engagement.
  • Train, develop, coach, and mentor Account teams on PROact best practices, ensuring team members are equipped with the necessary skills to deliver high-quality service.
  • Support critical Management of Change (MOC) projects on-site by coordinating technical expertise and facilitating seamless transitions for customers.
  • Drive key account retention and growth activities on the ground by understanding customer needs, ensuring service excellence, and identifying potential upselling opportunities.
  • Provide sales team training and competency development by organizing regular knowledge-sharing sessions and hands-on coaching.
  • In alignment in Regional and District Managers, support execution of contractual obligations within customer contracts, including price adjustments, contract extensions, and tender responses, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment with business goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers at all levels, from operations to senior management, fostering trust and long-term business partnerships.
  • Ensure QHSE compliance and promote a safety-first culture within all activities, conducting periodic audits and training sessions to reinforce safety standards.
  • Collaborate with internal support teams, including Supply Chain, Marketing, Business Operations, Technical, and R&D, to deliver the best solutions for customers and align with corporate objectives.
  • Assist in administration aspects of product supply and customer interface, including receivables follow-up and inventory management, ensuring smooth operational execution.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL, PHYSICAL)

Minimum Requirements*

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to travel 40% of time.
  • Ability to travel to and work offshore from time to time.

Preferred Requirements (if applicable)

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial), or Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, etc.)
  • 8 - 12 years of successful technical sales or field sales support experience
  • Specialty chemical experience
  • High computer application literacy (including Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn internal business systems)
  • History of working in a field that required autonomy and self-motivation
  • Prior experience that required excellent communication skills
  • Prior experience that required excellent organizational skills
  • Sales or account leadership history of calling on multi-level facilities management, and developing executive-level relationships
  • Prior experience that demonstrates a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
