Position Description
Employees in this position are responsible for the maintenance of patient billing accounts and performing numerous related functions to accomplish this task; such as, patient registration, insurance follow-up, financial screening of unfunded patients, answering patient billing inquiries, collection of unpaid balances and posting of payments in the Regional Campus Business Office.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Check daily schedules for funding sources, deductibles, payment history, account balances, and calculate self-pay discount.
  • Assist patients in finding funding when needed.
  • Educate PSS, nurses and providers on insurance benefits and funding.
  • Counsel patients on insurance benefits.
  • Maximize collections from patients from balances noted in the account.
  • Pre-authorize Pavilion patient surgeries.
  • Proactively assist other staff and providers as needed
  • Assist other OB/Gyn clinic sites with insurance verification, financial counseling and authorization and
    serve as backup as needed.
  • Answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls.
  • Assist PSS staff as a backup for checking patients in and out, scheduling and handling triage
    messages as needed.
  • Create standard operating procedures for verifying insurance from different payers, authorizing surgeries, utilizing the surgery schedule and all job functions.
  • Maintain the OR schedule spreadsheet.


Required Qualifications
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Two years of medical or general office experience OR Completion of related education or training and one year of experience.
