Job Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Director of School of Dentistry Predoctoral Clinics, the Administrative Clinic Supervisor oversees the patient flow and daily operations of the Predoctoral clinics (Parnassus and Buchanan.) to assure that the Dental Clinics operates smoothly and that effective day-to-day procedures are in place. The incumbent assists in management decision and strategic planning as it relates to the implementation of departmental policies and procedures and evaluates clinical workflow to improve efficiency and guarantee patient satisfaction. The supervisor serves as a liaison between providers, students and staff and works closely with other clinics, in and outside of UCSF, in the areas of patient referral, patient coordination and provides information concerning UCSF Predoctoral clinics services.

The Administrative Clinic Supervisor is also responsible for the oversight, scheduling and performance of Predoctoral Clinics registration/front desk area and procurement teams.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $91,700 - $137,600 (Annual Rate).

The Predoctoral clinics are an integral part of the UCSF School of Dentistry's mission: advancing health through excellence in patient care, education and discovery. The Predoctoral Clinics are primarily teaching clinics and receive over $50,000 visits per year.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent combination of experience / training.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a medical or dental practice, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated supervisory and organizational skills to effectively supervise staff and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with clinic / center administration.
  • Strong knowledge of practice operations, patient-scheduling systems, medical and insurance terminology, applicable information systems, patient service standards, and regulatory requirement and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaborations with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex administrative, clinical, and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.
  • Strong knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic / center operations.
