Description

The Fleet Analyst is responsible for performing research and analytical work for the Fleet Services Department, particularly in the areas of cost management, vehicle replacement schedules, performance benchmarking, action plan and project tracking, and report creating and publishing from various data programs to share routinely.

Knowledge of the principles of work measurement and activity analysis as they pertain to fleet management and maintenance; the principles of statistical methods and techniques; computerized accounting principles and practices; research methods, techniques, and reporting methods; computer systems and applications; specification analysis, and equipment management information and other data collection and reporting systems applications to help drive improvement in fleet management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:



  • Reporting the ongoing various maintenance and compliance results, fleet policies and strategies by using cost accounting methods, and developing justification and documentation for user rate recommendations.
  • This position is also responsible for the analysis and development of productivity measurements to simplify and/or improve processes, determining performance standards by tracking and trending production data, and conducting operations and vehicle fleet cost and usage rate analyses.
  • This position also has responsibility for: designing, implementing, evaluating, and/or utilizing computerized management reports from the fleet information management system to prepare written recommendations to improve workload balancing, and increase various process efficiencies.
  • The Fleet Analyst performs other fleet related duties as required, including GPS analysis and actionable reporting for field information and direction to act on to improve overall results.
  • Communicate ideas and recommendations through verbal and written reports.
  • Organizes and presents verbal and written research/analytical reports.
  • Produces written documents with clearly organized thoughts and comprehends and makes inferences from written materials.
  • Communicate with various Lewis departments personnel to discuss equipment requirements, projected usage, and determine future equipment needs. Performs research, prepares written recommendations, and reports to publish and influence continuous improvement.
  • Communicate with leadership, various department personnel, Operations and support organizations, contractors, vendors, and representatives from other agencies, to establish and maintain effective working relationships between Fleet personnel and other organizations at Lewis Services, and vendor various partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Distinguishing Features:



  • The Fleet Analyst conducts fleet analyses and special studies to implement quality service and operational improvements.
  • Assignments may be comprehensive and complex and require substantial research and analysis.
  • Assignments are generally in the form of broad outlines of desired results and objectives, outlining the project, and providing general guidance.
  • Some latitude and flexibility is allowed in developing the design and in conducting study to produce actionable recommendations.
  • This person is supervised and will report to the Fleet Director through review of work, reports, and results achieved, as well as through 1w1's, formal and informal review and feedback to help ensure positive and productive feedback is given.
  • Operates a PC to maintain databases, conduct statistical analyses, create spreadsheet programs, and perform data entry to: input data, prepare reports, and communicate with others.
  • Computes mathematical figures and makes relatively complex arithmetic computations to prepare statistical summaries.
  • Conducts fleet operation and maintenance cost studies to identify units requiring repair or replacement. Analyzes departmental equipment needs and advises operating departments on equipment suitability and possible use of alternative types of equipment by considering cost and use factors and other available information.
  • Projects future equipment replacement requirements. Reviews output reports from information systems, analyzes patterns and trends, prepares reports and graphs depicting results of these analyses, and recommends appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Analyzes the utilization of fleet units and makes recommendations for discontinuance and reassignment of units, or rental of seldom-used equipment.
  • Conducts cost studies on operation and maintenance of fleet and analyzes operating cost data to identify units requiring corrective action.
  • Analyzes and determines the economic point of replacement for each equipment type and year.
  • Performs monthly performance benchmarking analysis to key performance indicators.
  • Monitors action plans.
  • Ensures appropriate and timely reports, statistics and that critical documents are maintained on the Fleet intranet homepage.
  • Works directly with the Fleet Director and supports the entire Fleet Department on conference calls, projects, initiatives and other fleet related disciplines to support safe, reliable, cost effective and enabling fleet organization to our partners at Lewis Services.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelors Degree required in finance, accounting, business administration or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in operations research, organizational/departmental methods analysis, statistical analysis, and/or productivity work measurement studies
  • Strong personal computer skills (PC)
  • Experience in GPS and other data gathering systems
  • Proficient with the ability to work in a variety of data sources as well as fleet management system.


  • Excellent project management, communication, and team coordination skills.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to different project sites as needed.
  • Ability to work outdoors under various weather conditions and navigate difficult terrain, as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Masters degree preferred; 4-5 years' experience preferred.

  • Proficient with standard office equipment i.e., computer, phones, scanner, fax, and copier.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft

The position requires regular travel including overnights by ground and/or air transportation.

COMPENSATION: $62,000 - $85,000

Lewis Services regularly evaluates our compensation and benefit packages to ensure we remain competitive. Starting pay will be based on a candidate's experience, skills and education.
