Job Summary This position works in the Student Business Services area performing moderately complex accounting operations, enforcing policies & procedures, researching and resolving discrepancies and responding to inquiries related to student financials. This position provides customer service and guidance to students, faculty, and staff. Essential Functions 35% - Provide customer service in person, by phone and online to students, faculty, staff and the general public; interpret and assist others with interpreting student accounts; respond to complex inquiries related to student financials, fiscal policies and procedures, financial aid and third-party billing; adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures; and monitor work of temporary staff; collaborate with other departments to support student success 25% - Perform daily cash count, open and close office in SIS; balance and reconcile daily business, prepare cash summaries and bank deposits; maintain accurate records; audit data entry to student accounts; download electronic reports from various online systems for review and reconciliation; review forms and documents for completeness and accuracy; create and maintain spreadsheets for data recording and reporting purposes 25% - Process payments for student tuition and fees, third-party vouchers, fines, facility rentals, department payments and any proceeds from campus events; review and verify refund status and payment plan status; process student account refunds; prepare and reconcile cash boxes 10% - Assist at cashier window (employee and student) 5% - Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one year of financial support experience in area related to assignment such as accounts payable, receivable or payroll. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications A. Two (2) years of customer service experience in a business office in higher education or government organization B. Two (2) years of experience with online student information and/or accounting systems, preferably PeopleSoft C. Two (2) years of experience with cash handling, financial reporting, account reconciliation and/or record keeping D. Experience communicating policies and/or procedures, preferably in higher education or government organization E. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word F. College degree in business related field such as accounting, finance, management, or marketing Special Working Conditions
