Position Summary Information

Primary Purpose	The Innovation Commons Lead is responsible for fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning. This role manages the daily operations and overall coordination of the Cube and Innovation Commons, ensuring alignment with the established strategic direction. The Lead ensures that these spaces are effectively utilized to support academic and co-curricular activities, enabling students, faculty, and staff to explore, create, and develop innovative solutions and projects.
Essential Functions	Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of Innovation Commons. Ensure all spaces are equipped, maintained, and organized to support various projects, workshops, and classes. Manage and oversee resources and staffing to maintain a high level of service and support for users. Programming and Support: Design and implement workshops, training sessions, and events that promote using the Innovation Commons' resources. Provide technical expertise and support to users, including students, faculty, and staff, to help them realize their creative and academic projects. Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in innovation. Community Building: Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive culture within the Innovation Commons that encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration and innovation. Promote the Innovation Commons through various communication channels, showcasing projects, successes, and opportunities. Evaluation and Improvement: Regularly assess the effectiveness and impact of the Innovation Commons' services and programs, using feedback and data to drive continuous improvement. Implement metrics to track usage, user satisfaction, and the outcomes of projects developed within the Innovation Commons. Lead efforts to innovate and improve the spaces and services offered, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the academic community. Oversee Educational Application Development: Oversee student workers and interns in educational application development Using best practices to guide the designing and development of applications. Providing support and training to faculty and students on the use of developed applications. Minimum Qualifications	Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. One (1) year of work experience in software engineering, application development, computer programming, hardware maintenance, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications	Experience in maker space management. Prior experience in maker space or similar facility management, including overseeing equipment, safety protocols, technical staff, students, and supplies. Expertise in the effective use of a wide range of digital technology tools and web-based learning platforms to support teaching and learning. Familiarity with VR and AR development platforms, such as Unity or Unreal Engine. Experience with various technologies and equipment, including 3D modeling, 3D printers, poster printers, and drones. Experience with integrating maker space activities into the broader academic curriculum. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. Experience teaching or mentoring students or adults in technical skills, innovation, and design thinking. Expertise in design principles and Universal Design. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Knowledgeable about technology trends and best practices in higher education. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range	$26.63 - $35.29 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
