Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Associate I for the department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University.
Under the direction of a faculty member, the Research Associate I is responsible for conducting independent research within the field of AI and machine learning applied to medical imaging in cardiology and cardiovascular research. The role involves developing, implementing, and optimizing machine learning models for analyzing cardiovascular imaging data to advance diagnostic and prognostic capabilities in clinical settings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cardiovascular medicine, with the potential to impact patient care through advanced imaging analysis and AI-driven innovations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Conducts advanced research in artificial intelligence and machine learning as applied to cardiovascular medical imaging, including echocardiography, MRI, and CT scans.
- Develops and optimizes deep learning and computer vision models to assist in automated image analysis, disease detection, and predictive modeling.
- Performs data preprocessing, including segmentation, annotation, and harmonization of multimodal cardiovascular imaging datasets.
- Collaborates with clinicians, radiologists, and cardiologists to ensure clinical relevance and applicability of AI models.
- Assists in the selection of appropriate methodologies, algorithms, and frameworks for machine learning applications in cardiovascular imaging.
- Designs and implements research protocols, ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field with a focus on AI and machine learning applications in medical imaging.
- Minimum of two (2) years of research experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or deep learning, specifically in medical imaging or cardiovascular research.
- Experience in processing and analyzing large-scale medical imaging datasets.
