Coordinates the day-to-day administration of the EMS program. Essential duties and responsibilities include the
following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Responsible for the oversight of the EMS Continuing Education programs.
1 .1 Schedules CME (6 programs) annually.
1 .2 Serves as the liaison for the EMT clinical rotation program .
1 .3 Serves as the liaison for the paramedic clinical rotation program.
2. Oversees the hospital QI-EMS program.
2 .1 Conducts reviews of prehospital patient care reports (PCR).
2 .2 Works with EMS Medical director and BH EMS physician on issues of clinical non-compliance.
2 .3 Schedules peer review QI sessions with paramedics.
3. Serves as liaison to local EMS, fire and police agencies.
4. Assists the trauma program.
4 .1 Assists with quality improvement activities.
4 .2 Provides supports to continuing education programs.
4 .3 Performs ACS verifications.
5. Assists with quality improvement activities.
6 .Assists with new program development.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Oversight of medical control activities, including QA/QI of field providers and educational programs for Milford Medical Control and Responsible for the oversight of the EMS Continuing Education programs for both campuses.
    • 1.1 Schedules CME (6 programs) annually.
  • 2. Serves as the EMT/paramedic student clinical rotation programs liaison and Serves as liaison to local EMS, fire, and police agencies to improve EMS engagement and volume.
    • 2.1 Conducts reviews of prehospital patient care reports (PCR).
  • 3. Conducts prehospital patient care reports (PCR) reviews to ensure quality care based on current protocols and standards and Schedules peer review QA/QI sessions with EMS providers as needed.
  • 4. Works in partnership with EMS Director and Medical Director on issues of clinical non-compliance and Assists in developing new and ongoing programs development for EMS and hospital programs
    • 4.1 Assists with quality improvement activities.
  • 5. Assists with quality improvement activities and Visits EMS services and promotes Bridgeport Hospital care and related services.
  • 6. Leadership role on the hospital decontamination team, assisting with training and oversight and Assists with Emergency Management activities with the hospital
  • 7. Assists with AHA Training Center activities and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Paramedic Program certification and license. Bachelor's Degree in related health sciences field or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE

5 Years EMS Experience as a Paramedic, 3 years of EMS leadership experience, 3 years QA/QI experience. Critical Care paramedic experience preferred

LICENSURE

National Registry Paramedic, CT Paramedic License, AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS Instructor certifications, CT Emergency Medical Services Instructor required. Hazardous Material Training, Critical Care Paramedic preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with
hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently
stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally move and/or lift up to 25 pounds. The
specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception ,
and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Incumbents as well as external and internal applicants who become disabled must be able to perform the essential
job functions with or without the assistance of reasonable accommodation as determined on a case by case basis.
