Assistant Administrator - Clinical

We are seeking anAssistant Administratorwho will oversee and direct the implementation of major projects, programs and operational changes as assigned by the Director, Clinical Operations. Develop comprehensive plans for operational flow patterns, workflow and controls. Set in place proper monitoring measures. Maintain a consultative relationship with division chiefs for strategic planning and operational matters. Together with division chiefs provide monitoring, consulting and supervision to managers/supervisors of the clinical practice. Coordinate communication and organization among key stakeholders in relation to clinical practice activities.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with division chiefs and managers/supervisors to plan and organize operational and communication systems for divisions, clinics, and the Institute.
  • Routinely hold meetings and organize project teams for the clarification of issues, communication of guidelines and information, problem solving, and team development.
  • Provide administrative oversight to managers of clinics, developing policies and oversee the implementation and monitoring of services and set guidelines for effective, efficient and patient centered operations.
  • Work with Director of Finance and Billing Director to help revenue recovery functions.
  • Work with Director of Finance, IT and managers to monitor reporting of clinical activity; and to develop and automate activities which will offer economies of scale and increased productivity.
  • Present and foster improvement initiatives and service excellence for patient satisfaction.
  • Track clinical practice revenues. Implement systems to provide proper controls, analysis and strong business practice.
  • Review or prepare business plans for existing units or potential new business opportunities, as requested by Administrator.
  • Oversee budget preparation when appropriate. Review expenditures and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Work with Director of Finance and Administrator to develop overall strategy for expenditure control and revenue growth.
  • Work with Department of Strategic Planning & Marketing (and other marketing resources as needed) to support marketing plans and identify marketing opportunities.
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Operations in strategic planning, special projects and serve on hospital committees as directed.
  • Responsible for recommending staffing needs and job classification; assure compliance with all internal, external and regulatory policies.
  • Work with Human Resources Director to promote employee career development initiatives at the managerial level.
  • Guide subordinates in development efforts for themselves and their subordinate staff. Interview, hire, train, supervise, discipline/terminate and assign managerial, supervisory and support staff as needed. Assure compliance by supervisory staff of proper personnel practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or other related field.
  • Seven years progressively responsible professional-level administrative and financial experience related to monetary or non-monetary resources of a department, center, or unit, including 2 years financial management experience (e.g., planning, directing, monitoring, organizing, and controlling monetary and non-monetary resources). Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Additional related education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $85,500 - $149,800 Annually ($133,750 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University's salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
