Job Description Summary: |
The Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences and Environmental and Occupational Health is seeking a Research Associate to focus on social and environmental epidemiology. The research group focuses on how the built, natural, and social environments impact life among marginalized populations. The successful Research Associate will be supervised day-to-day by the Principal Investigator(s) and will carry out research activities to support harmonized data collection and analyses across a portfolio of projects focused on the food environment, green space, air pollution, extreme weather events, and health inequities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Carry out day-to-day study coordination with community collaborators.
- Managing research activities and project logistics.
- Organize and lead regular team and stakeholder meetings.
- Draft standard operating procedures and study protocols.
- Develop statistical analysis codes for data quality assessments and cleaning.
- Analyzing data and interpreting results. Includes spatial data, survey data, and qualitative data.
- Prepare technical reports and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold a master's degree and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. |

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of nutrition, environmental health, and epidemiology
- Excellent project coordination and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis using R.
- Proficiency in qualitative data management software (i.e. Atlas.ti)
- Proficiency in ArcGIS
- Commitment to working in multidisciplinary teams, developing and maintaining positive relationships with co-workers and community collaborators.
