The Assistant/Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the Chicago State University College of Health Sciences and Pharmacy is the administrative officer responsible for the planning, development, oversight, and administration of the Office of Academic Affairs. The Assistant/Associate Dean oversees academic standards and progression; program accreditation; academic scheduling, curricular and programmatic design and assessment, faculty professional development, and other academic-related services for the professional programs of Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Heath Information Administration, Public Health, and Pharmacy. The Assistant/Associate Dean for Academic Affairs reports to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. |
Job Description |
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the administration of the Office of Academic Affairs.
- Ensure compliance with regulations required by accrediting bodies and other agencies as they related to academic affairs and related program assessment.
- Responsible for all administrative aspects of the curriculum and assessment activities for the College.
- Deliver curricular content within the professional curriculum.
- Responsible for administrative aspects of the student retention and early intervention processes for the College in conjunction with the Office of Student Affairs
- Provide administrative oversight and supervision for information technology and instructional design/development activities.
- Serve as a member of the College of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Dean's Leadership Council.
- Represent the College on a local, state, national and international level.
- Serve as a Site Administrator in the Dean's absence.
- Assist in the identification, procurement and allocation of public and private funding for the College.
- Support departmental academic standing processes.
- Update policies, procedures and college information in the handbook and orient faculty to policies related to academic affairs.
- Update the course catalog offering each semester.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Minimum Qualifications |
1.Possess a terminal degree and have teaching and administrative experience in a health care field represented in the college.
2.Minimum of 3 years in an administrative position with duties and responsibilities for academic and fiscal management; |
Preferred Qualifications |
Experience with innovation in curricular design, delivery, and assessment; experience with specialty accreditation in health sciences; and experience with academic standing policies, academic handbooks, and early intervention processes. |
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
Excellent written, interpersonal and group communication skills; ability to manage budgets, financial reports, and legal documents;
Ability to work effectively on teams; collect. interpret and present data.
Ability to develop initiatives and options for overcoming challenges.
Demonstrated ethical and professional behavior sufficient to effectively direct an academic unit. |
