Overview

The Institutional Financial Sponsors Analyst plays a critical role in advising and supporting Institutional Financial Sponsors on balance sheet debt capital strategies. This position requires a high degree of analytical expertise, business acumen, and judgment in evaluating financing structures and capital solutions.

The analyst will lead complex financial analysis, develop tailored recommendations, and collaborate closely with senior members in the origination, structuring, and execution of Credit Facilities and Investment Trade Activities. The role requires independently identifying opportunities for further analysis, proactively solving for client-specific needs, and contributing to the strategic direction of transaction execution.

The Institutional Financial Sponsors group, within the Specialty Capital Banking division, serves as CNB's interface to institutional markets and sponsors, including Private Equity, Private Credit, Hedge Funds, Asset Managers, and Family Offices. The Analyst is expected to operate with a high level of autonomy and responsibility in navigating these client relationships and supporting the group's overall objectives.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

    Consistently meets and exceeds individual and/or team sales goals, including but not limited to deposits, loans, and other financial products, as applicable.

  • Partners in the origination, structuring, and execution of institutional transactions across multiple industry verticals as an active member of the Bank's Specialty Capital team.

  • Analyzes new client opportunities for specialty credit and investment transactions (e.g., term loans, revolvers, credit facilities, fund finance facilities, portfolio facilities, secondary market, private placements, A/B note structures, note-on-note facilities, asset-backed facilities, etc.), applying independent judgment to assess client needs and deal viability.

  • Identifies and recommends process improvements within the Specialty Program to enhance operational efficiency and transaction execution.

  • Reviews market data, valuation analysis, financial models, and presentations that require research, critical evaluation, and selection among alternatives, exercising independent judgment to support medium-risk deliverables.

  • Presents recommendations to address business challenges and contributes to the development of team strategies, applying discretion while building expertise in bank functions, policies, procedures, and compliance standards.

  • Collaborates with senior members in arranging new deals from inception to closing, including financial analysis, review of operating agreements and fund documents, participation in due diligence, and coordination with legal counsel on documentation and negotiation.

  • Independently maintains key team tools such as the Institutional Pipeline and Directory, ensuring data accuracy and strategic visibility.

  • Prepares client-facing materials including proposals, pitchbooks, and presentations tailored to institutional sponsors and strategic partners.

  • Attends and participates in industry events (e.g., capital markets, structured finance, asset-backed securities conferences) to maintain visibility and industry knowledge.

  • Maintains a strong understanding of industry trends, market conditions, and emerging opportunities, with a focus on capital strategy insights including lender activity, market pricing, and credit appetite.

  • Works independently on assignments that are complex and broad in scope, requiring originality, strategic thinking, and minimal oversight.

  • Contributes to projects with cross-functional scope and strategic relevance, applying subject matter knowledge to support overall team execution.

  • Supports collaboration with Legal, Risk, and KYC to ensure timely and compliant client onboarding for trading activities.

  • Interfaces with clients throughout all phases of specialty credit transactions (e.g., ABS, Fund Finance, Capital Markets), contributing to relationship development and deal execution.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.



Qualifications

  • 2 years of proven experience in capital markets, investment banking, private equity, or a related field.
  • Experience covering Financial Sponsors Private Equity (Asset Management, Specialty Finance, Private Credit, Hedge Funds, Market Structure, and/or Depositories)
  • Private markets fund experience is a big plus.

  • Familiarity with real estate finance, financial markets, and investment.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Independent judgment and discretion required.

  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills.

  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with investors and financial partners.

  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.



Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a related field.
