Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse B-DART (Dialysis/Apheresis Resource Team) is a professional nurse with demonstrated competency in multiple types of specialized and complex treatment modalities for patients of all ages with end-stage renal disease. Provides care in multiple Magnet Recognized tertiary care academic medical centers licensed under Loma Linda University Health (LLUH). Serves pediatric and adult stable and unstable fragile patients in all settings and levels of acuity, e.g., emergent, critical, intermediate, acute, and outpatient ambulatory care. Upon arrival to work, receives assignment for specified procedure(s) based on patient priority for care. Demonstrates flexibility and graciously accepts changes in assignments throughout shift. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide and document direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient-centered care. Competently performs pediatric and adult Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis and Continual Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) treatment modalities. Meets qualifications, licensure, certifications and competencies as defined in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care. Functions in a patient-centered care model of practice and performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) with minimal supervision and in accordance with established Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support. Functions within the expectations of a professional nurse and meets nursing excellence standards to maintain Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Engages in opportunities to directly and indirectly influence decision-making for point-of-care clinical practice by supporting and participating in professional governance councils, committees, task forces and staff meetings. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibits self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in adult and pediatric nephrology. Supports clinical research program and participates in Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved research. Inspires and adopts the transformation of evidence into point-of-care practice to optimize patient outcomes. Represents nursing as an empowered profession and embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements in practice. Provides a positive influence to facilitate change and optimize patient satisfaction and outcomes. Utilizes interpersonal skills that portray professionalism and maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care. Demonstrates knowledge of service recovery methodologies and resolves issues with speed and sensitivity. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed. |
