Job Summary

JiWon Choi, PhD, RN, an associate professor in the Institute for Health & Aging at UCSF, is seeking to hire a research assistant (RA) fluent in Korean and English.

The RA will perform entry-level duties related to supporting, developing, and testing an intervention.

The purpose of the project is

  1. To develop key components of the intervention to increase knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRDs) and to enhance caregiving skills and
  2. To assess the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention in a pilot trial among Korean American family care partners of persons living with dementia.
Under the supervision of Dr. Choi, the RA will assist in research-related tasks related to the development and testing of the intervention. The ideal candidates will have a nursing, public health, or psychology background and must be bilingual in English and Korean.

This position will also include interaction with communities outside the UC academic system. To accommodate participants' schedules, evening and weekend shifts will be required. The RA will also perform other duties as assigned by the PI. This position will last until July 30, 2025.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $63,700 - $84,000 (Annual Rate).

The Institute for Health & Aging is an organized research unit at UCSF. The work of the Institute includes extensive and successful research, training, and public service in the areas of aging, health, and health policy.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Acquiring knowledge of research function. Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties.
  • Acquiring statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design skills to perform research analysis duties.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and see assigned parts of projects through to completion on deadline.
  • Proficient bilingual ability to speak in Korean and English.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
  • Prior experience with using REDCap system or other data collection systems
  • Social science or behavioral health research experience
  • Research experience and/or training in qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Experience with IRB submission
  • Experience working with community and academic partners outside UCSF
  • Ability to abstract data from medical records and transfer them to databases
