The Medical College of Wisconsin's postgraduate fellowship programs provide a structured clinical and professional education to foster growth. The Multi-specialty Hospitalist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) fellowship program is an innovative one-year training program that teaches APP fellows to become highly skilled in the multidisciplinary, collaborative, and evidence-based management of complex and challenging patients in the acute care (inpatient) environment. The curriculum is composed of multi-modal learning opportunities that may include the following: in-person didactics, online classrooms, simulation, proctored procedures and/or mentored clinical rotations. Fellows will have core and elective rotations in the inpatient environment at Froedtert Health providing specialty health care services within defined scope of practice in collaboration with a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH policies and procedures. During the program, fellows will have rotations with medical and surgical hospitalist services, medical and surgical consultant services. The beautiful, safe, and modern campus of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center (MRMC) houses Froedtert Hospital, Children's Wisconsin, Curative Care Network, Versiti Blood CResearch Institute, and the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division. These member entities share a common mission of excellence in patient care, medical education, biomedical research, and community service. APP fellows receive compensation during the program. Monthly paychecks start after the completion of the first month of employment. The MCW fellow salary is $75,000 and paid out as per MCW standard process. Preferred Schedule: Scheduling flexibility required to provide for an appropriate level of patient care coverage. The schedule includes majority day shift with night, weekend and possibly holiday shifts while in the acute care environment. There are also education days.
Preferred Experience: Advance Practice Nurse: National board certification preference for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Family Nurse Practitioner, or Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner eligible with 1 year APP practice in acute care setting.
