SUMMARY
The Sr. Cost Engineer will develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. This role will analyze new production processes and new potential supplier costs which will drive Senior Flexonics towards developing cost effective new products in our changing marketplace. In addition, this role involves analyzing production costs, recommending improvements to production processes, and collaborating with various departments to enhance overall efficiency. An ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing background with a passion for understanding the overall costs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Budgeting / Forecasting / Quoting:
- Support business unit with manufacturability and cost estimation in innovation technology projects/next generation projects
- Prepare financial models for new product quotations
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts related to production costs.
- Up-front involvement with business units on manufacturing approach required to reach target cost/price
- Supplier Collaboration:
- Support Purchasing departments with fact-based negotiations and detailed cost-break-down analysis to reduce quotation prices and implement cost reduction opportunities
- Work with suppliers to negotiate pricing and ensure cost-effective procurement of materials.
- Evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Cost Analysis and Reduction:
- Analyze production costs and identify areas for cost reduction.
- Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
- Process Improvement:
- Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare detailed reports on cost analysis and present findings to management.
- Maintain accurate records of cost-related data and process improvements.
- Develop and maintain new cost database and ensure data accuracy for use in decision making
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/GUIDELINES:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Bachelor's degree in finance, or a related field will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation, cost engineering or a similar role within a automotive manufacturing industry across multiple commodities.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in cost analysis and budgeting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Some kneeling or reaching may be required.
- Schedule: Standard business hours, with occasional after-hours or weekend work for maintenance or emergency response.
Base Salary $80,000 - $110,000
Salary ranges are determined by role and level, and within the range individual pay is determined by additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
