SUMMARY
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for negotiating long-term and short-term strategic sourcing streams while achieving year-over-year cost savings. Responsible for managing sourcing, procurement, and purchasing initiatives that drive savings and process improvements that support Senior's long term operational strategy. The Purchasing Manager will provide tactical, strategic, and functional leadership to all Purchasing activities in Bartlett, IL and Saltillo, Mexico locations. Manage a team of buyers which facilitate deliverables to internal and external customers.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- Strategic Purchasing
- Develop sourcing plans in alignment with strategic deployment objectives and customers.
- Develop & implement cost reduction projects.
- Create RFQ's and perform quote analysis.
- Develop supplier evaluation process for Senior.
- Ensure suppliers in compliance with responsible sourcing policy.
- Must have established domestic and international supply base of raw materials, tubing, machinists and stampers etc. to enhance current approved supplier list.
- Project Management & Negotiation Skills
- Effective self-management skills.
- Ability to manage large scale projects, which require many facets of the business.
- Develop negotiation strategies for the business and other sourcing team members.
- Use Negotiating skills derived from experience and training to proactively be used in discussions with vendors, suppliers, and prospective partners to secure competitive agreements.

- The ability to establish policies and procedures for purchasing team members can utilize.
- Ensure consistency within department by continually improving processes.
- Guide by example and coaching, to mentor direct reports in developing sourcing fundamentals.
- Organize departmental goals into strong communication practices which measure performance.
- Supply Chain Alignment
- Create business alignment within the supply base.
- Terms and conditions, pricing, logistics, etc. to coincide with customer agreements.
- Expand the supply base by various proactive methods to secure additional product suppliers.
- Ensure suppliers follow supplier manuals and have their performance monitored and measured.
- Market Awareness
- Must have sufficient knowledge of the business market.
- Ability to respond to market conditions.
- Self-motivated to assess risks associated with markets.
- Lead and prepare Senior Leadership for effects of the market that may impact the business.
EDUCATION
- Bachelors degree in business management, operations management, or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
- About 10 years plus experience (automotive preferred).
- Prior experience working with MRP/ERP systems.
- Prior procurement/commodity management experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Some kneeling or reaching may be required.
- Schedule: Standard business hours, with occasional after-hours or weekend work for maintenance or emergency response.
Base Salary $90,000 - $130,000
Salary ranges are determined by role and level, and within the range individual pay is determined by additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
