Where you will work: Stoneham, MA

A Day in the Life of the CTE Intern:



  • Accompany & observe Transport dept technicians for commercial installs/trouble calls @ customer premises
  • Fiber pre-testing for commercial installations
  • Testing and troubleshooting fiber using an OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifier and scope
  • Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity
  • Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC, etc; as well as following procedures as outlined in the Installation, Technical, Operations, and Safety Manuals, and Employee Handbook)
  • Clean and maintain equipment
  • Other duties as assigned


What You Bring to the Table:



  • Current Senior at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in good standing with (and recommended by) the Instructor of the CTE (Electronics & Fiber Optic) Program
  • Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies
  • Previous exposure with construction equipment, hand tools, fusion splicer, OTDR, fiber identifiers and scope
  • Appropriate technical & verbal skills
  • Appropriate technical & written & reporting skills
  • Must have good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and organize effectively
  • Ability to interact effectively with other team members.
  • Basic understanding of Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Work indoors in poorly ventilated areas such as attics during extreme heat
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds
  • Work outdoors in all kinds of weather during internship scheduled hours
  • Work performed near power lines and electricity
  • Work and travel in inclement weather



Base Salary: The base pay in Massachusetts for this position is $15.00 per hour, plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities. It is specific to Massachusetts and may not be applicable to other locations.
