The Pediatric ICU at VCU Medical Center provides the only full-service children's care in Central Virginia, including a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma and Burn Center. Our PICU has been honored with the Silver Beacon Award, while our organization has achieved Magnet designation for the fifth consecutive time and recognition as a Level 1 Children's Surgery Center.
Our 24-bed PICU is dedicated to caring for the most critically ill infants, children, and adolescents. We serve patients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions while guiding families through some of their most difficult experiences. Our nursing team delivers exceptional care by blending advanced clinical expertise with compassion, emotional insight, and strong psychosocial support for patients and their caregivers. The Nurse Clinician demonstrates a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the complex patients and their responses to actual or potential health problems. This role assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. The Nurse Clinician provides direction, education, leadership and accountability for program development, implementation and evaluation in area of responsibility. This role includes professional development and empowerment of staff as well as management of resources to promote desired outcomes with attention to quality, efficiency and cost. Why VCU Health?
