Our team is composed of highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals who excel across various disciplines. We pride ourselves on our cross-disciplinary approach, which allows us to understand and address our clients' needs more comprehensively than traditional, siloed methods. What sets us apart is our ability to seamlessly conceptualize, plan, and detail every aspect of design. Our in-house experts collaborate closely, optimizing and enhancing our work through multi-discipline strategy sessions. By leveraging cutting-edge techniques and state-of-the-art software, we deliver industry-leading technology and innovative solutions from day one. We are currently hiring a Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will engage in the engineering, designing, and implementing of cutting-edge structural systems for high-tech or industrial facilities with a primary emphasis on steel and strut configurations. As a Structural Engineer at SSOE, you will have a foundation in structural principles, structural analysis & calculations, and a proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD. This position is a hybrid position, requiring occasional onsite work.
Responsibilities
Conduct detailed structural analysis, calculations, and design for steel and strut-based systems used in high-tech or industrial facilities. Develop innovative solutions to optimize structural integrity and performance.
- Design and detail complex steel structures, including moment frames, braced frames, trusses, and composite systems, with a deep understanding of steel fabrication and erection techniques.
- Develop innovative strut-based solutions for supporting piping, cable trays, and other * Perform structural evaluations of existing facilities, including condition assessments, load capacity evaluations, and seismic vulnerability assessments.
- Conduct detailed load analysis to determine the forces (dead loads, live loads, seismic loads, etc.) acting on the structure. Consider factors such as occupancy, equipment, and environmental conditions.
- Perform seismic analysis, including response spectrum and time-history analysis, to ensure structural resilience in earthquake-prone regions.
- Evaluate and design for vibration control and mitigation strategies for sensitive equipment and processes.
- Design and optimize steel structures, including trusses, frames, and other load-bearing elements, with a strong emphasis on efficiency, durability, and safety.
- Evaluate stability and safety of the existing systems using structural engineering principles. Ensure that the structure can withstand applied loads without failure. Analyze existing structures for new loads and provide recommendations for strengthening where required.
- Ensure compliance and adherence to all applicable building codes, regulations, and industry standards, including IBC, AISC, ASCE, and local jurisdictional requirements.
- Utilize AutoCAD and Revit software proficiently for modeling, drafting, and detailing structural designs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural designs seamlessly into larger facility plans.
- Apply established design techniques and exercises discernment in adapting and modifying design concepts as needed. Uphold quality control by adhering to company and team design and CAD standards.
- Will work with Sr. Engineers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders on specific assigned objectives, complex features, and aid in deriving possible solutions to unusual problems.

- A Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) license are highly preferred.
- Fundamental knowledge of structural analysis techniques and principles.
- Strong understanding of structural analysis principles, design methodologies, and material behavior.
- Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards (IBC, AISC, ASCE, etc.).
- Knowledge and/or experience with seismic analysis, vibration analysis, and progressive collapse analysis is highly desirable.
- Experience with structural analysis software such as RISA or STAAD.
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD is required.
- Experience performing field verifications and site walks to identify, verify, resolve, and incorporate solutions into design packages. Ability to troubleshoot design problems in the field.
