Purpose of Position
Northern Kentucky University seeks a Director of Assessment, Accreditation, Curriculum, and General Education who is able to engage faculty and academic units in an open communication style and has the ability to monitor and manage complex processes and operations. This will be a 10-month faculty position
Primary Responsibilities
Assessment

  • Collaborate closely with the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Academic Affairs and the Office of Planning and Institutional Research (PIR) in the development and implementation of a comprehensive system to promote and support assessment on campus, including program review and general education


  • Manage the coordination of academic program review and general education assessment.
  • Serve on administration committees on issues related to assessment and accreditation and work closely with the University Curriculum Committee and the General Education Committee to ensure compliance with university academic policies and state and federal regulations
  • Lead the University assessment committee
Accreditation Liaison
  • Act as liaison with our regional accreditor (SACSCOC),
  • Provide leadership for campus-wide reports, including the Fifth-Year Interim Report, the (10th year) Compliance Certificate, and the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).
  • Keep up-to-date records of discipline-specific accreditors and serve as a consultant for the accredited programs.
Curriculum
  • Supervise staff (Coordinator of Assessment and Curriculum) in their duties related to managing course evaluation process, pulling and distributing data for program review, generating student names for Gen Ed assessment, creating reports to share out gen ed assessment results, responding the data requests, and being lead contact for Curriculog (including updating forms each year), UAA website, and Weave software.
  • Manage processes related to curriculum, including the processes for new or revised programs/course approvals. This requires attending UCC meetings.
  • Maintain program inventory via the CPE portal and the Academic Common Market
General Education
  • Act as a resource for faculty, departments/schools, colleges, and the Gen Ed Committee. Communicate regularly with faculty about the program.
  • Serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the GEC
  • In consultation with the Gen Ed Committee, plan and coordinate the assessment of General Education courses including planning, gathering initial data and follow-up data (Close the Loop forms).

  • Prepare and update the general education requirements information for university publications, including catalog copy, checklists, and website in accordance with University procedures.
  • Review and approve Gen Ed course waivers/substitutions.

Serve as the Vice Provost's designee on specific tasks/initiatives and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially with faculty, administrators, and staff across all divisions and diverse groups.
  • Proven experience in designing, organizing, and managing complex projects.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the assessment process and reporting at the unit/program/college level.


Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in an academic leadership role (e.g., program director, assessment coordinator, department chair).
  • Experience providing written and oral reports on assessment plans, strategies, and results.
  • A record of successful service leading a curriculum and/or assessment committee or similar shared governance group.
  • Participation in accreditation and program review processes.
  • Experience in the analysis, interpretation, and implementation of academic policies.
  • Familiarity with Curriculog and Weave.
