JOB DESCRIPTION: Shift: 7:00 p.m. - 7:15 a.m., Three Days a Week, Every Other Weekend OffSUMMARY OF POSITION The Behavioral Health Technician provides comprehensive care to residential clients; provides medication monitoring, education, and prescriber collaboration. Provides information, education and support for clients. Promotes wellness, recovery and skill building to sustaining better heath. Provides prevention training in the areas of wellness, recovery, managing symptoms, making healthy life style choices, recognizing and responding to relapse, managing crisis and achieving and sustaining recovery.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Assists with caseload of clients and meet with the clients' assigned case manager and technician regarding their caseload. Assists with searching new clients and their personal items and providing orientation to the facility and the rules. Conducts room checks/searches, and assists with washing and cleaning client beds and rooms. Assists with daily groups including film groups, educational, life skills, exercise, and recreation/leisure. Examines clients for any immediate physical or emotional problems to be included in their individual treatment plans. Assists in monitoring if client chores are completed. Assists with urinalysis tests. Assists with perimeter checks. Conducts vital sign checks if qualified. Assists with monitoring peer/AA/NA Group. Transports clients as assigned. * Presents and has input into shift change report by collecting treatment information on each client in residential treatment from the prior shift and during his/her own work shift, and then provide this information to oncoming shift. * Assists with monitoring clients. In the absence of an RN, LPN, or EMT/Technician working on the shift, follow the agency's self-medication protocols and observes clients taking their medication, documents medications to be taken, and consults with medical personnel outside the agency to obtain medication verifications. * Ensures that the clients are adequately educated to the facility, mode of treatment, rules and rights, and are oriented to the surroundings. Explains admission, treatment goals, rules and rights of treatment services, and family education/visitation program to the client's family or significant other when appropriate. * Assures timely completion of necessary releases of information, group notes, discharge summaries, progress notes, admission orders, Medication Observation Record sheets, etc. Completes admission and discharge notes in the Progress Notes section in the client file and notify the primary case manager or designate of discharge if unplanned. Completes or communicates the appropriate statistical information on all treatment admissions and discharges. Completes billing forms to coincide with progress notes, medical evaluations, case management, and crisis intervention. Complete treatment verification book. Completes Wal-Mart purchasing for medication/transport of clients for purchases. * Reviews client file for current assessment information and treatment plan goals and activities to be completed by client. Documents assessment data obtained in the Progress Note section in the client file and continue to assess and document any changes in the client's physical and/or emotional status during the client's entire length of stay for treatment plan revisions. Assists with file reviews as designated. * Ensures adequate coverage is maintained and/or secured in the residential program. * Assure that areas of the building are properly maintained. Clean areas as designated. Cleans clients' living areas upon their discharge, and other building areas as assigned. * Answers residential program telephone lines when clerical staff are unavailable and talk with callers in need of assistance. * Assist with the following kitchen duties in the absence of the cook/tea/coffee/supper/etc. Set up clients' snack and make it available to clients at 9:00 p.m. * Assists clients with making linkage with internal and external resources as outlined in treatment plan and in coordination with Integrated Healthcare Services. Maintains appropriate contact with referral sources including providing information on service recipient progress, behavior, and needs (with appropriate releases), and maintaining ongoing consultation when appropriate. * Monitors self-medication protocols, monitors the dosage, side effects, use and documents patients' reactions. Provides medication training to the client or client's family or guardian to administer the client's medication, to monitor proper levels of dosage and watch for side effects. Obtains laboratory specimens and help doctors with patient examination and continuity of care arrangements with other providers. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES - Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods. - Knowledge of community geographical awareness and of community and agency resources. - Skilled in customer service techniques. QUALIFICATIONS Education Level High School diploma/GED Years of Experience N/A Certification/Licensure CPR Certification within 90 days of hire. Valid driver's license.
