Position Highlights

The Southwest Environmental Health Sciences Center (SWEHSC) at the University of Arizona invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Program Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual to plan community engagement activities and develop informational resources for the Community Engagement Core. This individual will assist with development, implementation, and evaluation of multiple education and engagement activities and will need to be able to ensure compliance with Minor Policy.

FTE (full-time equivalent) will be decided at time of hire in conversation with the candidate and supervisor.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with the planning of environmental health and community programs. This includes materials about environmental health literacy, following established guidelines, support risk communication activities, draft and schedule social media and newsletter content for the Community Engagement Core, adhering to approved messaging and help organize and facilitate conversation between community members under supervision to address environmental health issues present in the community
  • Provide support with existing community engagement activities, which will include materials development, tabling events, presentations to students, teachers, community members, and environmental/health professionals throughout the year. http://swehsc.pharmacy.arizona.edu/outreach/activities-general-public
  • Monitor, log and track and record constituent cases including number of educational programs and which materials are used for "Science Cafe" and "What's brewing in our lab"
  • Assist with planning and implementing summer programs as well as assist students in preparing and delivering presentations related to environmental health topics, providing guidance with content development, presentation skills, and effective communication strategies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience may be required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent learning in Public Health or related field preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish speaking and writing preferred.
