THE POSITION

Experience the natural beauty of Washington County Parks and get paid to do it! We are looking for a motivated individual who is interested in working outdoors during the spring and summer seasons at beautiful Hagg Lake. We are hiring a Seasonal Park Aide to work at Hagg Lake / Scoggins Valley Park in Gaston, OR. Scoggins Valley Park at Henry Hagg Lake offers visitors the best of outdoor recreational activities. Maintained and operated by Washington County Parks, the park features numerous day-use areas, two boat launching facilities, a fully stocked lake for fishing, more than 14 miles of hiking trails, reservable picnic shelters, 18-hole disc golf course.

Park Aides work outdoors in a beautiful setting, May through September, eight hours per day during daytime hours, these openings require working weekends. The shifts are scheduled on:

  • Wednesday through Sunday, or
  • Thursday through Monday, or
  • Friday through Tuesday

In this role, you will assist in making Scoggins Valley Park a clean, safe, and enjoyable place for visitors. As a Park Aide, you will clean and maintain park grounds and facilities, set up and clean up after events and rentals, identify safety issues, and positively interact with the public in the execution of duties. Additionally, you will use a variety of tools and vehicles to accomplish these duties. Some positions will also work in the fee booth greeting patrons, selling parking passes, and providing general park information. Work is primarily done outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and summer holiday hours.

Ideal Candidate
We are seeking someone who is dependable, reliable and punctual, and is able to work semi-autonomously outdoors in all types of weather. They are able to use a variety of tools and equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position and are able to provide quality customer service with a diverse population of visitors, have a positive attitude, and willingness to be a team player. Cash handling and customer service experience are a plus.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Equivalent of a high school diploma AND
  • One (1) year of experience that includes driving a vehicle and performing related general labor duties in an office, retail, or warehouse setting.

  • Driving a motorized vehicle is an essential function of this position. Successful applicants must possess a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
