About the Job

Supervision (50%):

  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate up to 30 part-time student custodial staff
  • Assign daily cleaning tasks to student custodial staff.
  • Perform routine inspections of student custodial staff and assist the Assistant Director of Housing Custodial with inspections of full-time Buildings & Grounds staff.
  • Consult with the Assistant Director of Housing Custodial on matters related to discipline of student custodial staff.
  • Indirectly supervise 17 Buildings & Grounds (B&G) staff and provide work direction in the absence of the Assistant Director of Housing Custodial and/with consultation the Associate Director of Housing Maintenance & Custodial Operations.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of training and development of B&G and student custodial staff.
  • Assist with summer deep clean inspections of student staff, B&G staff, and contracted labor.

Administrative Responsibilities (40%):

  • Ensure safety and compliance of student custodial staff.
  • Coordinate the summer linen program.
  • Oversee student custodial time keeping and payroll.
  • Procure and manage distribution of Custodial Supplies in consultation with Associate Director and Assistant Director of Custodial.
  • Lead the apparel program for the Housing Custodial unit in consultation with the Assistant Director of Custodial Operations.
  • Lead the winter carpet cleaning program for Housing (since the work is performed in the apartments)
  • Meet regularly with the Assistant Director of Housing Custodial.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings with B&G and Assistant Director of Housing Custodial.
  • Attend other meetings and trainings as necessary.

Department Responsibilities (10%):

  • Participate in department wide committees and functions.
  • Assist with move in and move out processes.
  • Perform other work as assigned.
  • Respond to after-hours calls, which may include returning to campus to respond in
    person.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS plus at least four years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least eight years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Custodial experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite & Google platform
  • Experience supervising students and/or paraprofessional staff
  • Customer service experience
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $24.52- $26.92; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
