The Vice President of Product Strategy and Management for Spend Management (the Group Purchasing Organization (GPO)) will be responsible for leading the product strategy, vision, and execution across multiple product lines. This executive role will focus on ensuring that the product portfolio aligns with the overall corporate and portfolio strategy, integrates across multiple product lines, and delivers value to healthcare providers. The VP will work closely with senior leadership, internal teams, and external stakeholders to develop and execute product strategies that meet customer needs, drive business growth, and enhance the healthcare procurement experience. This role demands a strategic, results-driven leader who can manage complex product portfolios, optimize processes, and deliver innovative solutions in a highly regulated environment.

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and lead the product strategy across multiple product lines within the Vizient's Spend Management Business Unit (GPO), ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and the healthcare industry's evolving needs. Provide clear strategic direction for the development and enhancement of spend management products that support procurement, cost management, and supply chain optimization.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of spend management products, ensuring consistent integration across product lines to create a unified, seamless experience for healthcare providers and suppliers.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Have a deep understanding of client needs and translate those into actionable product visions and roadmaps. Leverage expertise to support the team in detailed personas, journeys, and use cases to drive product development.

Product Development & Execution

  • End-to-End Product Lifecycle: Lead the product lifecycle from strategy through execution, including roadmaps, business requirements, solution identification, and major launches. Ensure consistent integration of solutions across product lines, aligning with both short-term and long-term organizational goals.
  • Agile Execution: Oversee the execution of product plans in an agile environment, managing cross-functional teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of new products and product enhancements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Drive collaboration across product managers, engineering, data analytics, marketing, and operations teams to ensure alignment on product priorities and the successful implementation of solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Leadership Communication: Regularly communicate product line goals, priorities, and outcomes with senior leadership, ensuring alignment and providing guidance on expected results. Act as a trusted advisor to other product teams and leaders to address challenges, resolve cross-functional issues, and ensure consistency across product lines.
  • Collaboration Across Functions: Work closely with senior leaders to define product positioning, coordinate cross-product initiatives, and set strategies for market growth. Facilitate and support collaboration between product groups to solve complex, cross-team challenges.
  • External Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization externally in customer, vendor, and partner discussions, ensuring that the product strategy reflects the market demands, competitive landscape, and customer pain points.

Market & Customer Insights

  • Customer Research: Lead market research and customer feedback efforts, ensuring product strategies are rooted in customer and stakeholder needs. Aggregate insights from multi-persona journey mapping and Voice of the Customer (VOC) to inform and set the overall strategy.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Continuously monitor market trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies in healthcare procurement and data analytics. Adjust product strategy to maintain a competitive advantage and capitalize on new opportunities.
  • Persona-Based Strategy: Develop a product strategy focused on addressing the pain points of distinct user personas. Collaborate with other product leaders to ensure that persona-driven solutions are aligned with the broader portfolio and organizational goals.

Financial & P&L Management

  • P&L Oversight: Manage the P&L for multiple product lines, ensuring financial objectives are met while driving innovation and value. Establish and track budgets, monitor product development costs, and assess profitability across the portfolio.
  • Revenue Growth & Profitability: Identify opportunities for growth through new product development, market expansion, and strategic partnerships. Ensure that product enhancements and launches contribute to overall financial success.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Mentorship & Team Development: Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to Product Line Leaders and other product management professionals. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and excellence within the product management team.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as a role model and mentor for cross-functional teams, ensuring that teams are working toward shared objectives and maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Best Practices & Standards: Work with other Product Group Leaders to define and implement best practices, standards, and procedures for product management and cross-functional collaboration.

Technical Leadership & Innovation

  • SaaS & Technical Oversight: Provide oversight on SaaS investments and technical initiatives across product lines. Ensure that the technical infrastructure supports scalable, reliable, and secure solutions for healthcare organizations.
  • Innovative Solutions: Lead the product team in identifying and leveraging emerging technologies to drive innovation in healthcare procurement, data analytics, and supply chain management. Champion creative problem-solving and resourcefulness in meeting the complex needs of healthcare providers.

Risk Management & Mitigation

  • De-Risking Strategies: Identify and address potential risks across product lines, including dependencies, security, and data privacy concerns. Implement de-risking strategies and mitigation plans to ensure timely product delivery and compliance.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure that all products comply with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA and other industry-specific requirements. Work with legal and compliance teams to monitor and address potential risks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Engineering, Data Science, or related field preferred (MBA or advanced degree desired).
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on healthcare, procurement, or data analytics, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple product lines.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of Healthcare Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), procurement, supply chain, and the healthcare industry's regulatory landscape.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and build high-performing teams, and influence cross-functional groups to achieve product and organizational goals.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong experience managing P&L, budgets, forecasting, and driving product profitability.
  • Technical Expertise: Familiarity with SaaS solutions, data analytics platforms, and emerging healthcare technologies. Strong understanding of cloud-based solutions and technical architecture.
  • Customer-Focused: Deep understanding of customer needs and a passion for creating solutions that address complex challenges in healthcare procurement and operations.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and align stakeholders at all levels.

Work Environment: The VP of Product Strategy and Management will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, driving product innovation and optimizing the procurement process for healthcare organizations. Occasional travel may be required for client meetings, product launches, and industry events.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $156,500.00 to $290,100.00.
