MATERIALS SUPERVISOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: SHIPPING AND RECEIVING

REPORTS TO: PRODUCTION MANAGER

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: FULL-TIME

Position Summary: The Material Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and directing the daily work of the following functions. Receiving, shipping, inventory control, logistics, kitting of hardware and prepreg.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Ability to lead a group of 10 - 25 team members to accomplish the daily work and warehouse projects
  • Ensure that the team is always working safely
  • Be hands-on to learn all warehouse functions and be able to step in when needed to back up the team
  • Train team to follow all policies and procedures for shipping, receiving, outside processing, cycle counting, RMA, material issuing, job reporting, kitting, inventory put away
  • Work cross functionally with other supervisors, leads, and managers
  • Conduct monthly cycle counts ensuing all parts are counted by A, B, C code
  • Determine root cause for inventory variances and work with the team and cross functionally to prevent from recurring.
  • Train team on warehouse and inventory related procedures and expectations
  • Receiving - ensure products received move to incoming inspection with the appropriate system transactions within 2 hours of receiving
  • Warehouse - Maintain a clean and orderly inventory area in the warehouse and in the facility. Including tolling inventory and point of use inventory
  • Shipping - ensure products ship on time and are packaging according to standard
  • Logistics - responsible for pick up and deliveries
  • Inventory - keep track of consumables and point of use inventory to maintain adequate stock
  • Maintain inventory counts and inventory accuracy above 98%
  • Supervise the kitting and cutting of the prepreg department.
  • Organize and maintain storage of all materials including tooling.
  • Work closely with the production manager, purchasing manager, and planner to ensure materials are available for manufacturing.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • U.S. Person status required do to export control
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required


  • 4-5 years of experience working in a warehouse as a material handler with hands on ERP experience with system transactions experience i.e. (receiving entry transactions, inventory location movements, inventory adjustments, material issuing to jobs, reporting jobs to inventory)
  • 2-3 years' experience in managing a cycle count process, including generating cycle counts in the system, entering them, investigating variances, recounting and discovering root cause of variances.
  • Understanding of bill of materials and experience in a manufacturing environment
  • High attention to detail
  • 2-3 years of working in an ERP system doing transactions
  • Capable of standing and or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and the management team
  • Must be well organized, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Must thrive in a team-oriented and deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office programs- Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to be trained to drive a forklift

The employee may regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
