*Description* The company's underwriting business unit has 3 manual QA openings. This is for the largest and most high profile project with the company. A commercial package policy (CPP) is an insurance policy that combines commercial general liability and commercial property insurance. A CPP lowers costs, broadens coverage, and simplifies the buying process. CPPs are among the most widely purchased insurance policies in the United States Additional Notes: -3.3 GPA, not a must have. -IT background would help. -Developer background. -Run SQL -Have development mind set. -Does help to have the IT Background. -Okay with not a degree. Associates. -2 of the team members, are full time staff. -Wants to build about full time head count. Top 5 Things (day to day): -Assigned to JIRA, properly, actively working on Underwriting projects. -Looking to advance and make current Underwriting application more efficient. -Help with Guidewire Underwriting upgrade to version 9.5 Manual QA skills/traits: * Detail-oriented * Analytical thinking - using logic and reasoning to reach conclusions and find strengths and weaknesses; Know what questions to ask, when/how to ask them * Strong oral/written communication skills * Collaboration skills - Willingness to work in a team and foster cross team coordination; QA's are essentially the liaisons of the group and need to bridge the gap between what business wants and what developers can do * Strong problem solving skills * Active listener * Creativity/curiosity * Time management skills * Flexible/Adaptable - Ability to multi-task and change directions as requirements change * Self-Motivated * Persistent - ability to voice opinion and focus on the best solution, when necessary Bonus Manual QA skills/traits: * Developer background/knowledge * Familiarity with SQL * Familiarity with HP ALM (Quality Center) * Understanding of claims workflows * Familiarity with JIRA/Confluence (Atlassian products) In addition to the above skills/traits, a QA Lead should also have the following: * Patience...lots and lots of patience * Skilled in organizational tools (One Note, Outlook, JIRA Boards, Confluence, etc.) * Confidence * Effective communicator Manual QA Job responsibilities: * Analyze the business requirements, system and risk associated with the change from both an end user and IT standpoint * Collaborate with business and IT to document requirements and estimate testing efforts * Develop testing scenarios and write clear test plans for both functional and regression testing * Review test plans written by others * Conduct manual test plans written by others within agile sprints * Document test results and report issues * Generate, compare and validate test data * Work with internal and external development teams -Manual QA experience -Execute someone test plans that they wrote. -What did the developer did and go back through. They will not edit code. -Will review test plans and gain advice. -We require input from other and to other for test plans. -Report issues, work with internal and external things. Claims Center is split into -2 different tracks and will be working with multiple teams. -We can train the person with Guidewire. -Basic knowledge of SQL, more of a bonus or must have. Will test with basic tables. -Don't have to have ton of knowledge with SQL is fine. Candidate Requirements: *Bachelor's degree or relevant testing experience *Must be able to work in the Lansing office four days a week initially (adjustments may be made after training) Position Overview: This role involves evaluating and testing new or existing software applications. Responsibilities include writing, executing, maintaining, and assessing manual software development test cases to verify software functionality in accordance with user requirements and established guidelines.
