Virginia Cancer Specialists, an affiliate of McKesson Specialty Health and US Oncology, a leader in Cancer Care, is seeking a Full Time Oncology Liaison to join our Marketing Team. This position will perform Physician Liaison/Outside Sales activities for an assigned geographic area in Northern Virginia (Alexandria, Arlington, Woodbridge, VA) to achieve and exceed desired practice objectives. The Oncology Liaison is a qualified sales representative, responsible for prospecting, nurturing, and maintaining relationships with referring physicians to achieve practice growth goals. The Oncology Liaison participates in sales planning, analysis, targeting, reporting, and development of their respective territory as well as the overall practice.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Using consultative selling skills, initiates contact with non-oncology physicians and key staff to engage customers, source needs, and recommend service solutions in order to market US Oncology-affiliated Practice's oncology services and increase the number of new oncology patient referrals.
  • Establish and maintain strong long-term relationships with referring physicians in the territory. Implements sales, marketing, and outreach plans, presentations, and strategies designed to develop incremental referrals, new referral relationships, and meet customer needs.
  • Develop a basic understanding of regional business conditions relating to the industry, competition, and relevant business trends. Identifies future growth opportunities for new services.
  • Relays physician feedback and market trends data to practice leadership. Works with management to identify and execute business solutions to market and customer issues. Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues and ensure referral feedback is communicated/followed up appropriately. Work with practice management team to ensure timely resolution based on referring physician/patient feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with operational leaders, site managers, Practice Marketing team, and practice staff to understand business needs and implement practice growth strategy in core markets.
  • Support practice growth efforts with referring physicians and/or their office staff through ongoing practice visits, sales calls, peer-to-peer lunches/dinners, tumor boards, community events, trade-shows, and cross-business collaboration.
  • Utilize CRM, market analysis, trends, and performance reporting to develop sales plans and track practice growth.
  • Ensure the efficient adherence to certain administrative duties, including timely completion of expense reports, use of automation tools such as Salesforce and Business Objects, detailed sales metric reporting and analysis, and business planning. Manage travel expenses within guidelines and budget.
  • Required to be present within the assigned territory/region during regularly scheduled business hours, and occasionally on evenings and weekends for planned events.
  • The Oncology Liaisons support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards and Shared Values.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in business or health and at least five (5) years healthcare marketing or three (3) healthcare service sales experience required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and databases. Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated success in consultative sales, planning call cycles, and strategic territory coverage. Ability to understand business intelligence reporting and impact of growth initiatives on practice's financial viability. Proven ability to prioritize opportunities and convert them into a successful sale for developing and maintaining existing business.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Highly collaborative individual capable of performing in a matrixed environment. Fact-based decision maker with strong emphasis on data, trends, and market analytics. Strategic thinker and financially oriented individual who understands how to drive profitable growth. Able to work with a wide range of individuals, particularly physicians. Strong conflict management and resolution skills, handling customer complaints and objections. Comfortable delivering presentations. Excellent interpersonal skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be present at the employee site during regularly scheduled business hours and regularly required to sit or stand and talk or hear. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients. Work may require travel by automobile, approximately 70% of work week. Sales positions require regularly working outside the office in order to call on clients and build relationships.
