Under general supervision of the Admixture Service Manager/Pharmacy Services Manager/ Director of Pharmacy Services, this position performs the duties associated with day-to-day ordering, receiving, unboxing and overall general handling of medications from the vendors, to serve as the core and source of our pharmaceutical services.


Responsibilities

  • Oversees the purchase of pharmaceutical inventory at our central admixture site
  • Maintains drug inventory levels at required levels for daily support of our central admixture needs
  • Responsible for keying and /or processing of individual patient orders using the Lynx automated cabinet system for accuracy and maintain accurate inventory balances
  • Ensures compliance with established ordering practices and with all applicable state and federal guidelines
  • Communicate when needed with the different clinical sites at VOA concerning inventory needs and work to dissolve discrepancies
  • Receive/Check in the inventory for accuracy
  • Checks inventory levels and other inventory control monitors
  • Makes decisions in purchasing while staying within budget requirements and achieving maximum inventory turnover rate
  • Resolves problems associated with on-going fluctuating demand/supply issues
  • Follows-up and expedites as necessary to maintain delivery dates/schedules
  • Resolves problems with vendors as necessary
  • Responsible for receiving returned inventory for credit to patients' accounts
  • Responsible for weekly audits of high-cost meds and quarterly entire inventory
  • Works closely with the accounting department to ensure accurate inventory processing and control of the inventory checks and balances
  • Provides training and support to pharmacy staff regarding inventory management system and quality control procedures

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree required
  • Two (2) years of experience in procurement/inventory supply or pharmacy technician experience OR an equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • IV certification strongly preferred
  • Experience with Lynx, Epic, Pyxis, Omnicell is preferred
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board preferred
  • Willing to travel between offices as needed
