JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Schuylkill, located in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania, is a member of the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC), and is accepting applications for a Part Time Head Coach of the Men's Soccer Team.

This part-time position is responsible for all aspects of the men's soccer program, including evaluating and recruiting academically qualified and talented golf student-athletes, organizing, and conducting team workouts and competition, arranging a USCAA and PSUAC schedule and team travel, and managing the operating budgets.

General Responsibilities

  • Direct practice and competition coaching.
  • Direct the evaluation and recruitment of academically qualified and skilled student-athletes.
  • Direct pre and post-season coaching, conditioning, and weight training.
  • Oversee academic monitoring and the personal development of student-athletes.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts in the Athletic department.
  • Select and manage volunteer coaches if applicable.
  • Arrange weekly practice schedules with pre-determined contract golf facilities.
  • Provide vision and leadership to create a positive team culture.
  • Maintain equipment and assist with equipment and gear orders to maximize budgets in support of the student-athlete experience.
  • Work with the Director of Athletics to develop and provide accurate information to maintain the golf program marketing and web page. Provide feedback for the Director to nominate and select weekly/season conference and national awards.
  • Develop opportunities to participate in service activities and encourage participation in the community. Use these opportunities to teach life lessons about respect, hard work, value of education and service to others.

Education:

Required - High school diploma.

Preferred - Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.

Work Experience:

Required - Coaching or playing experience at the high school level.

Preferred - Collegiate coaching experience.

Required - Possess a valid driver's license and pass a driving background check.

Skills:

  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff.
  • Knowledge of NAIA and PSUAC student-athlete and institutional compliance rules and rules governing the play of various games.
  • Event and personnel management experience.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid USdriver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be requiredin addition to standard background checks.
