The SAP Security Specialist performs security services in all the specialized security areas (personnel, information, physical, operational, SAP, OPSEC), applying incident management, problem solving, task performance and producing finished documentation, e.g., reports, special studies, policy and procedure development, security designs, training programs and assessments. The SAP Security Specialist provides research and technical support to projects, producing solutions and documentation. The SAP Security Specialist Monitors project tasks and schedules and supports high intensity exercises and events which often include Joint and / or Coalition

Duties & Responsibilities:

Security Management. (39.99%)



  • SOPs & OIs. The SAP Security Specialist develops and maintains comprehensive SOPs and OIs outlining the security policies and guidance for conducting STO, CW, AF SAP, SCI, ACCM and collateral classified activities.
  • Self-Reviews. The SAP Security Specialist shall perform comprehensive annual or semiannual self-reviews, as applicable, for STO, CW, AF SAP, SCI, ACCM and collateral security programs using the appropriate inspection checklists provided by the respective program's Cognizant Security Authority (CSA) and / or policy directives.
  • Security Incidents. Identify, report, investigate (if applicable) and document security incidents (violations, infractions and inadvertent disclosures) of 505 CCW and / or subordinate units.


Information Security. (6.14%)



  • Classification and Marking. Assist unit members and visitors in the proper classification and marking of all STO, CW, AF SAP, SCI, ACCM and collateral information produced within the Wing. Provide guidance to personnel on the specific requirements for original and derivative classification decisions, as well as proper downgrading and / or declassification instructions.
  • TS Accountability. Maintain multiple databases consisting of all accountable TS STO, CW and / or AF SAP documents and magnetic media (hard drives, compact discs, etc.) stored within each applicable facility, as well as those created, transmitted, transferred and / or destroyed by assigned personnel. Conduct annual and change-of-custodian audit / inventories of TS accountable information, the results of which will be documented and the respective database.
  • Defense Courier Service (DCS) / Accountable Mail. Manages DCS accounts and all other classified distribution systems such as the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, or other official courier used to disseminate classified or sensitive unclassified information. Ensures DCS Form 10-R is reviewed as appropriate and coordinates shipping requirements with servicing DCS station; prepares packages and receipts for dispatch IAW applicable directives.


Personnel Security. (25.35%)



  • Billet / Quota Management. Assist in the management of STO, CW and AF SAP personnel billets / quotas. Maintain applicable automated databases consisting of all billets / quotas allocated to 505 CCW and assist in the conduct of annual billet / quota revalidations. Billet revalidation records will be retained on file locally in accordance with applicable policy directives.
  • SAP Nomination. Conduct pre-screening interviews in accordance with DoD, Joint Staff, and AF policy guidance for all personnel nominated for STO, CW, and / or AF SAP access. When applicable, enter the nominee's organization, PII, and access requirements into the JADE.
  • Indoctrination and Debrief Paperwork. Upon receipt of SCI, STO, CW or AF SAP access approval (or subsequent debrief), prepare the appropriate paperwork and schedule time for the nominee to receive a formal indoctrination briefing and initial security training. Process all signed forms in accordance with established local procedures, and maintain within the individual's respective PSF or archive, as appropriate.


PHYSEC. (24.39%)



  • Facility Accreditation. Ensure SAPFs, collateral controlled / open storage areas, and Temporary Secure Working Areas (TSWA) comply with the physical security standards outlined in ICD 705, DoDM07 Volume 3, and / or all other applicable directives and established host base policies.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive EAPs to establish procedures and outline responsibilities of assigned personnel for safeguarding classified information during an emergency situation.
  • Facility Access. Provide oversight of entry control into secure facilities by controlling the movement of permanent party, students and visitors via electronic security systems and performing escort duties, as necessary.


Operations Security (OPSEC). (0.52%)



  • OPSEC Plan. Develop and maintain comprehensive OPSEC plans and CIL, which identify specific unit responsibilities and describes how to implement an OPSEC program; existing plans and lists will be provided by the Government upon contract award.


Security Education and Training Awareness (SETA). (0.52%)



  • SETA Scope / Responsibilities. Provide direct support and assistance in day-to-day administration of the overall SETA program in accordance with applicable policy directives and local requirements.


Industrial Security. (0.70%)



  • Industrial Security Scope / Responsibilities. Assist in maintaining a current listing of the key on-base management officials and other applicable parties.


Foreign Disclosure. (1.39%)



  • Foreign Disclosure Scope / Responsibilities. Provide full support as an alternative to the FDO on all Foreign Disclosure matters in support of SAF / IAPD, ACC / A3TS, and USAFWC as applicable. This includes implementation of policy and information releasability, based on event specific or personnel DDL.


Exercise / Event Security Support. (1.66%)



  • Exercise / Event Security Support. Provides similar security support during exercises / events; this support is in addition to the normal workday.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):



  • Ability to work as a team member, communicate, perform office functions and use office tools, customer focus and deliver exceptional performance, and knowledge of SAP processes.
  • Ability to perform Security Management functions with little to no supervision across various levels of protection during and outside of normal duty hours as required.
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining comprehensive SOPs and OIs, Continuity Books, handbooks, documents, and records outlining the security policies and guidance.
  • Skilled in daily facility security maintenance / oversight to include conducting self-inspections.
  • Skilled in classification management to include writing, maintaining, and executing SCG, reviews, and training.
  • Skilled in the SAP Nomination process and billet / quota management.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD 705, and ICS 705-1 and DoDM 5205.7 Volume 3.
  • Personnel designated as the Construction Security Manager (CSM) are highly skilled in SCIF facility construction to include developing and integrating CSP throughout the phases of construction.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP processes and ability to execute SAP security best practices.


  • Knowledge of JPAS / JCAVS system to complete electronic in-processing as owning agency for military and civilian personnel and servicing agency for contractor personnel.


  • Knowledge of applicable policies and directives governing information security, industrial security, personnel security, physical security, OPSEC, SETA, and foreign disclosure.


Minimum/General Experience:



  • 11 years' relevant experience (5 specialized)


Minimum Education:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
