    The Compounding Pharmacy Facilities Manager will direct the work of employees and vendors by coordinating work on all engineering activities within the Company's pharmaceutical/pharmacy production facilities in the U.S., including equipment maintenance, repair work, project management, and validations to ensure overall facility goals and objectives are accomplished. This position is also responsible for planning maintenance activities to support the Company's objectives and programs. The Engineering manager will oversee a team working at multiple sites and relationships with external professionals performing work.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • High mechanical aptitude
    • Responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of highly technical or involved engineering projects in creating and developing automatic, semi-automatic, and manually controlled production machines, auxiliary equipment, or other items presenting new or constantly changing problems of materials, customer requirements, and product use.
    • Manage facility systems, including PMS, EMS, purified water, HVAC, and other qualified utilities.
    • Participate in and manage the site's Capital Projects plan and budget.
    • Direct and prioritize direct staff activities while managing overall responsibility for the activities of personnel supporting work.
    • Coordinate process improvement efforts with site leadership.
    • Manage engineering team direct reports and their subordinates.
    • Prioritize engineering projects and assignments for completion by the appropriate personnel.
    • Establish systems to document and maintain process validation and drawing compliance.
    • Manage the engineering function's finances, analyze financial information, prepare and manage operating and capital budgets, and monitor revenues and expenditures to contain costs.
    • Work with all departments within the facility to ensure that inventory, budget, and Plant financial goals and objectives are accomplished.
    • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP and ISO), safety policies, and good housekeeping and that safety and hazard practices are understood and followed.
    • Work to ensure Quality Assurance requirements and regulatory compliance are maintained.
    • Motivate staff and develop new skills with multiple site teams.
    • Manage facility support and vendor work.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage facility and/or maintenance techs.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage external vendors.
    • Manage systems and projects across all CVET Pharmacy/Mfg locations.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • 8+ years of experience in either pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing preferred.
    • 5+ years of progressive management experience, including leading an engineering or maintenance team.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    • Six Sigma/Lean certification is strongly preferred.

    COMPETENCIES (SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

    • Provide support for safe and compliant manufacturing of compounded and Rx animal health medications
    • Capable of managing mid to large-scale projects under cGMP and USP guidelines. The project scope can be a facility, qualified utility, and process automation to support pharmacy operations.
    • Purified water and cGMP HVAC systems experience is required.
    • Previous experience with cGMP drug product automation (filling, sealing, vision systems, etc.)
    • R&D to commercial process development based on established protocols and procedures
    • Understand air flow, differential pressure, and other sterile requirements.
    • Must also have a thorough knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Industrial Engineering, Technical Management, Project Management, and Operations/Production.
    • Working knowledge of Machine Controls, Drafting, Budgeting, Costing, Financial Systems, Communication, Development and GMP, Quality System Regulation, and ISO Requirements.
    • Direct validation experience
    • Strong communication skills; oral, written, and electronic
    • Excellent leadership skills and a track record of developing subordinates.
