The Job
We seek security personnel to assist at race events during the season (March-November). As a member of the Security Team, you will be an essential part of the guest experience. Your job will be to keep our fans, racers, and crew members safe and informed while still maintaining a fun and friendly atmosphere. This entails weekday, evenings, and weekend work which can include long and irregular hours (12-14+) outside in potentially extreme weather, and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Along with the NHRA Director of Event Security and Logistics, meet with venue security representatives to review Starting Line procedures prior to any on-track activity.
  • Assist with the YES Program as needed in specific markets.
  • Perform daily walk-throughs of pro team pit areas and midway (minimum once per day from Friday to Sunday).
  • Assist Pit Control personnel in maintaining security for the driver/owner/crew chief motorhome lot.
  • Continuously monitor and walk all areas of the Starting Line during professional category sessions, check credentials.
  • Monitor Starting Line area during certain sportsman sessions, at the direction of the NHRA Director of Event Security and Logistics.
  • Monitor special viewing areas including Sponsor Viewing, Burnout Box, Starting Line Tours, Crew Chief Area, etc.
  • Monitor the Safety Safari area of the Starting Line, removing individuals obstructing safety equipment routes.
  • Ensure clear pathways and proper positioning in front of the tower and center lanes.
  • Assist tow vehicle ingress, egress, parking, and access to return road.
  • Assist venue security in monitoring sponsor viewing areas to enforce credentials and alcohol policies.
  • Ensure media personnel wear proper wristbands and/or vests, particularly in restricted areas beyond the Starting Line.
  • At the direction of the NHRA Director of Event Security and Logistics, monitor and assist during pre-race and post-race ceremonies, and driver autograph sessions.
  • Provide support for other security-related issues, as directed by the NHRA Director of Event Security and Logistics.
LOCATION: Nationwide
FLSA/SALARY: Hourly/State minimum wage

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Preferred experience in event security in a motorsports environment.
  • Public safety experience including law enforcement, fire and medical services, or corrections is preferred.
  • Must be flexible with meal periods.
  • Must be able to enforce all facility policies and procedures, including start line policies, to ensure a safe environment for all guests.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, run, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under NHRA insurance policy.
  • Must arrive on time and ready to work at shift start.
  • Ability to work well within a team and independently.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, racers, crew members, and guests.
  • Must be able to handle sounds at a high volume.
