The primary responsibility of the Parts Counter Salesperson is to service customers. The Parts Counter Salesperson provides merchandise, supplies or information for customers, both external and internal, while aiding in the achievement of department and dealership's goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not in order of priority):



  • Sell parts over the counter to wholesale and retail customers. Conduct regular telephone solicitation on assigned wholesale accounts.
  • Handle telephone parts orders for wholesale and/or retail accounts.
  • Promote additional parts sales by suggesting related items, seasonal lines, and/or parts specialists.
  • Clean, revise, and update parts displays as directed.
  • Initiate credit applications for new accounts and check credit requests versus status lists.
  • Inform customers when special orders are received.
  • Determine correct parts numbers and "pick" parts for orders received.
  • Arrange for delivery or shipment of parts as required.
  • Prepare and cost parts invoices, properly identifying eligible wholesale customers.
  • Help maintain orderly parts stock.
  • Assist with regular parts inventories and the selection of parts for return under the parts obsolescence protection program.
  • Recommend layout improvements to the parts manager and assist in physical re-arrangement of layout.
  • Attend group training sessions as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Maintain regular on-site attendance.



Work Environment:



  • Frequently exposed to mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, explosives, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.



Requirements:



  • Frequently required to stand.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 85 pounds.
  • Auto or truck parts knowledge/experience, preferred.
