We are seeking a Civil Engineer Consultant to assist in overseeing, analyzing, and assessing the quality of precast and prestressed concrete. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be tasked with upholding the quality standards of both the work and the products delivered to customers, both within the Commonwealth and beyond. Your responsibilities will include engaging in the pre-qualification process to assess and authorize new Bulletin 15 precast and prestressed concrete fabricators. You will also evaluate shop fabrication methods, which encompass tensioning and detensioning procedures, rebar fabrication, form setup, concrete mixing and placement, as well as vibration, finishing, and curing techniques. Furthermore, you will review and either approve or reject Quality Control plans and mix designs, ensuring that sufficient inspection resources are available. Your expertise will be crucial in assisting districts with any fabrication and repair issues that arise. Additionally, you will serve as a subject matter expert, interpreting relevant codes and contractual language for district personnel, inspectors, and other staff, while also reviewing existing fabrication and material specifications to propose necessary revisions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment; 37.5 hours work week.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty.

Special Requirement:

  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.

Post-Employment Requirement:

  • Successful candidates with an out-of-state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer license issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six month probationary period.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
