Position Description

Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Communicate with students about registration systems.
  • Assist students with registration process.
  • Assist students with changing classes, adding and dropping.
  • Meet with students to plan schedules.
  • Assist students with major and minor changes.
  • Assist students with Study Abroad program exploration.
  • Assist with the completion of forms for graduation, etc. (Substitution forms, Senior Audits, etc.)
  • Communicates with students and faculty about academic issues.
  • Follow up with students of risk.
  • Handle recruitment materials.
  • Distribute internship and job opportunities to current students.
  • Maintain database of graduates.
  • Maintain Lyris email list of current students.
  • Handle all exit procedures. (Interviews)
  • Attend TSI Texas Success Initiative and other University-led trainings intended for advisors.
  • Assist with Red Raider Orientation and group advising activities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in LA, NRM, AAEC, AEC, or Related Field. Related experience in Academic Advising.
