Position Summary
The Associate Dean of Student Care is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing services that enhance student well-being and social support. Reporting to the Dean of Basic Needs and Student Care, the Associate Dean of Student Care develops and coordinates case management services, contributing to the overall growth of basic needs programs. This role leads a team managing Crisis Assessment and Risk Evaluation (CARE) Teams, non-clinical case management, emergency assistance programs, and student death protocols.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Oversee education and outreach efforts for the Student Care Network and a comprehensive referral program for campus and community resources. Collaborating with employees, students, and community organizations, this position builds a robust support network for under-resourced students, incorporating trauma-informed practices and national best standards in service delivery. Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College Skills in technological support and delivery of student programs and services; knowledge and skill in the use of integrated software systems; and proficiency in the use of Microsoft application software. Knowledge of care management, intake/assessment, and counseling techniques. Experience working with students in crisis and creating behavioral intervention plans and/or care coordination. Employ and deploy data-informed and results oriented initiatives. Ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges that arise as a result of Dallas College's current transition. Understanding of contemporary issues in higher education is required through professional development activities. Experience working with student support programs (counseling, threat assessment, health & wellness programs, etc.). Ability to maintain confidentiality of information exposed to during business regarding students, supervisors, or other employees. Learn, interpret, and ensure compliance with state and federal laws. Knowledge of risk assessment in higher education settings. Highly collaborative leader with experience in a comparably diverse and complex college/university with a proven track record of enhancing quality, excellence, and student success. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, complex ideas, and information to a variety of stakeholders/constituents within the Dallas College community and health care, social service network related to student basic mental health, physical, spiritual and social needs. Experience in strategic planning, assessment of program(s) effectiveness, and development of guidelines to enhance student success units within the institution and with accrediting bodies. Knowledge of mental health and basic needs services for college students. Excellent time management, and organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations. Responds appropriately to issues in a dynamic, rapidly changing educational/economic environment.

Minimum Requirements
Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related field. Three (3) years of progressively responsible leadership. Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, an appropriate license (i.e. LMSW, LCSW, NCC, LPC, LMFT) or case management certification is required. Experience supervising volunteers, staff, and interns. Experience working with and leading student and staff populations. Current and valid Texas driver's license required. Demonstrable administrative and leadership experience. Experience with CARE Teams Bilingual or multilingual preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Responsible for overall operation, leadership, supervision, and evaluation of student case management services, emergency services, and assist with basic needs programming. Implementation and leverage technology platforms such as Maxient, and EAB to support the student care network. Work closely with the Associate Deans of Basic Needs and Community Connections, Counseling Services, Health Services, and other stakeholders while supervising and being responsible for:
-Senior Student Care Coordinators -Student Care Coordinators (Student Leads) -CARE Teams -Emergency Aid/Assistance -Outreach/Education of Student Care Network -Student Death Protocol -Student Care Network Internship Program -Accessing Public Benefits (i.e. SNAP) -Housing Assistance Programs -Childcare Support -Parenting Student Programs -Community Referrals/FindHelp -Maxient
Provide appropriate ongoing follow up with students in person or by phone/email/virtual appointment for continuity of care and accountability and to evaluate successes, barriers, and/or gaps in support. Evaluate current student resources and create a strategicplan to scale up efforts to address under-resourced student need and gaps in servicesbyincorporatingbest practicesin goal setting and the development of learning outcomes while consulting with key stakeholders. Specific focus areas willincludehealth and wellness andsupport for students in crisis. Meet individually with students of concern or who may have acute needs (and their families, if necessary) to coordinate and provide ongoing care management to ensure appropriate services are in place. Execute the College's Student Death Protocol and coordinate appropriate care for high level emergencies and other traumatic experiences. Monitor the operations of non-clinical case management, threat assessment, including staff management, policy development, inventory and budget tracking, and risk management. Expand wrap-aroundcase managementsupportby connecting existing disparate student services (including mental health, transportation, childcare, emergency aid,benefits screening,and food assistance, etc.); planning and leading trauma informed cross-training; andsupportinginterdepartmental collaboration. Work closely with campus partners to facilitate coordinated and holistic support measures for students. Utilize electronic documentation systems to create and/or update wellbeing files in Maxient and Microsoft to share information with campus partners and guarantee accurate file maintenance. Respond to after hours or weekend emergencies on a limited basis to ensure continuous support for students. Design and implement programs and conduct trainings to educate students, faculty, and staff about the Student Care Network, student wellbeing, and identifying/responding to students in distress. Develop, deliver, and evaluate interventions and sustainable programsover multiple campusesthatameliorate basic needsin a manner that promotes dignity and minimizes marginalization. Communicate,increase awareness, and advocate for students of concern to a range of audiencesboth on campus and in the community. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with on- and off-campus stakeholders that support a comprehensive, multidisciplinary,and integrated approach to care coordination. Engage in comprehensive assessment, evaluation, and program improvement byregularly tracking, communicating,and reporting relevant data; integrate feedback into program operations; and develop and review key performance indicators to reducestudents'food, housing,and financial insecurity. Attend relevant training, conferences, and meetingstoincrease knowledge and expand network of contacts in the community/nation. Plan annual spending,maintain budgets,track expenditures,perform reimbursements, facilitatepurchasing,andmonitor case management expenses, including dispensary expenses,in collaboration with Dean and Director of Basic Needs. Plan, organize, and implement campus wide educational programs and participate in outreach activities including but not limited to tabling at key events, integrating information into new student orientationsor onboarding processes, presenting to student clubs, and increasing thecollege's awareness and knowledge ofstudent basic needsthrough presentations and educational events. Assist department personnel with other Student Engagement activities that support student success, holistic wellness, and a sense of belonging, as needed. Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year. Performs other duties as assigned.
