OVERVIEW
Merrick is seeking a Colorado Water Engineering Practice Lead to continue the growth of an active water and wastewater infrastructure practice in the Colorado market. In alignment with our One Water vision to support communities and watersheds, the right person for this role would:

The primary focus for this role is business and market development and project delivery leadership for Merrick's Colorado offices in Denver, Greenwood Village, Loveland, and Colorado Springs. The person in this role will work hand in hand with other Merrick geographies-including Idaho, Texas, and New Mexico-promoting and providing solutions to community infrastructure problems in our watersheds. As part of a broader Infrastructure and Engineering team, the person in this role would have the opportunity to collaborate with our river engineering, land development, and public works infrastructure teams. Merrick is a mid-sized, multi-discipline, employee-owned consulting engineering firm who prides itself on establishing deep relationships with its customers. Growth in Colorado includes fortifying relationships with internal and external customers, establishing networked business partnerships, and adding/leading key resources to differentiate our services to our customers. This position will be bolstered with support from our team of over 120 water professionals at Merrick. Typical salary range for this position is $170,000 - $220,000. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Location Primary office can be in any of our Colorado locations, including Denver, Greenwood Village, Loveland, or Colorado Springs. Travel among the offices on a periodic basis would be expected.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Directly supervise the water and wastewater team in Colorado. Manage the team's business development strategy and project assignments to attain high quality products.
- Be a mentor to leaders and support staff within our water practice to attain career development, quality, and profitability goals.
- Nurture budding sub-practices within the water practice, helping to expand services to clients.
- Build project teams for water and wastewater projects to obtain high-quality results. Quality control responsibility for the Colorado geography.
- Manage and organize the Team for efficiency. For example, make sure right professional(s) are assigned to specific jobs and assure that appropriate standard contract documents/specifications are available. Hands-on, direct participation is expected.
- Work with Business Unit management relative to growth, staffing, and financial performance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School.
- Twenty (20) plus years of experience in infrastructure engineering.
- Experience in water and wastewater engineering in the greater Colorado market is strongly preferred.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Colorado PE registration is required. PE Licensure in multiple states is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in Marketing and Business Development professional engineering services in the Colorado area.
- Capable of directing, managing, and mentoring a multi-discipline team of design engineers and technicians.
- Committed to quality.
- Five (5) years of demonstrated successful experience in Business Development and Project Management for municipal projects.
- Strong technical design experience in water and wastewater projects.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery.
