Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operations and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgement.

About the Department and/or College

Texas Tech University K-12, a unit of the Texas Tech University Online division, is a state-approved online kindergarten through 12th-grade school that has been meeting students' needs for more than 25 years.

Affiliated with Texas Tech University, a Carnegie tier-one research institution, TTU K-12 boasts a rigorous curriculum that allows students to work ahead, make up failed credits, and achieve their goals from wherever they are.

Texas Tech University K-12 is a Candidate for Accreditation with NCA CASI, NWAC, and SACS CASI.

TTU K-12 began in 1993 as a "Special Purpose District" designed to help students whose educational needs were not adequately met by traditional school districts. Since then, we have grown to serve students across the country and more than 70 nations around the world.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Work cooperatively with district administrators and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs.
  • Disaggregate, calculate and interpret student assessment data, which will include all state assessments, state interim assessments, local benchmark assessments, and curriculum-based assessments (CBA) given by the district through-out the school year.
  • Provide data regarding projections for student growth and campus performance after each assessment.
  • Work with instructional teams to analyze test data and develop student achievement goals and objectives. Consult with district staff to develop, administer, and interpret evaluation guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure district-wide compliance with federal and state accountability requirements. Create and implement processes to improve district accountability and proper reporting.
  • Stay current with local, state, federal, and judicial mandates, as well as technical and professional trends affecting the analysis and reporting of school district data, and attend all assessment and accountability training sessions and regional and state level conferences to remain up-to-date on compliance requirements.
  • Supervises and manages implementation of all components of state and federal accountability programs; interprets policies and guidelines governing accountability programs and ensures district compliance; submits accountability data and documents to the Texas Education Agency; and prepares and submits required reports for the district.
  • Assist in the coordination and oversight of all assigned, state-mandated assessments including STAAR/EOC and TELPAS.
  • Contribute to the development of school support initiatives by evaluating progress, analyzing data, and implementing an accountability model to enhance student performance.
  • Supervise instructional staff as needed.
  • Assist administratively with parents and staffing as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
In-depth knowledge of Texas Education Agency (TEA) accountability standards, state testing requirements, Understanding of curriculum alignment with state standards to ensure that assessments accurately measure educational objectives. Knowledge of state and federal education policies, Proficient in conveying complex data in an understandable way to stakeholders and administrators, High degree of accuracy in reporting data and tracking accountability measures to ensure compliance and meet quality standards, Flexibility to adapt to new state requirements, testing formats, and changes in accountability standards, and Commitment to using assessment data to drive improvements in instructional practices, student outcomes, and school performance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from accredited university (Instructional Leadership/Principal preferred), Valid Texas teaching certificate, experience in assessment and accountability, research, education administration, or a related field, including a minimum of five years in a leadership or supervisory role in a Texas public school.
