We're seeking a future team member in the role of Junior Blockchain Protocol Analyst to join our Digital Assets team. This role is located in New York, NY - Hybrid Main responsibilities will include:
- Act as one of BNY's cryptocurrency subject matter experts
- Help to define this role and function and play a key role in training team members to become Protocol Specialists
- Build Real time monitoring of the health of all blockchain networks supported by BNY Mellon
- Investigation and identification of critical blockchain events (i.e., Deep Reorg, 51% Attack, etc.)
- Initiate emergency procedures in the event of an on-chain attack or other critical event
- Partner closely with the BNY Mellon's firm-wide emergency response team(s), namely, Information Security and Cyber teams
- Support new asset evaluation and brief leadership team on critical decision points and provide recommendations where necessary
- Development and maintenance of crypto asset onboarding and support policies and procedures.
- Handling and processing of Crypto Asset Events which have a direct impact on client assets, for example, Hard Forks
- Oversight of implementation and testing of cryptocurrency node software
- Monitoring of the ongoing performance of BNY Mellon's cryptocurrency nodes
- Ongoing and semi real time monitoring and analysis of cryptocurrency industry and asset developments assessment of client impact
- Ongoing engagement with the cryptocurrency ecosystem
- Work with the Product and Risk/Controls teams to implement blockchain analytics monitoring and train teams on use of tools
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- 2-3 years of working experience required
- Exposure to the crypto industry preferred
- Moderate protocol expertise preferred
- Experience with blockchain analytics vendor tools and publicly available blockchain scanning tools advantageous
- Ability to communicate and engage multiple stakeholders across various levels of management
- Support senior team members with reviewing, revising, and writing policies and procedures
- Support senior team members on projects and solution generation

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $56,000 and $120,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
