Under the direction of the Transplant Financial Coordinator Supervisor, the Transplant Financial Coordinator is responsible for providing accurate and professional financial clearance to patients seeking Transplant Services at UC Davis Health. The Transplant Financial Coordinator is responsible for the analysis, validation, and regulatory and compliance activities associated with the financial clearance process. The Transplant Financial Coordinator mitigates the financial risk to UC Davis Health by performing an accurate financial clearance review along with a comprehensive analysis of patient and payer specific benefits and patient liability. Ensures that adequate compensation resources exist and recommends coverage plans that best meet the individual's needs for evaluation, organ transplantation and post-operative care. Counsels transplant patients on financial considerations throughout their care-experience. Works with multi-disciplinary team consisting of patients, revenue cycle, nurses, social workers and pharmacists. Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Patient Care Standards of UC Davis Health.

1) Analyze benefit requirements for the transplant evaluation, admission, clinic visits, donor compatibility, work-up and testing, organ procurement, transplant medications and follow-up appointments.
2) A complete working knowledge of applicable medical terminology and in-depth understanding of the meaning and organization of patient records.
3) Positions at this level may require special skills or knowledge in several areas such as coding, billing systems, governmental systems and programs, and English composition.
4) An understanding of the relationship between patient records and the service to be provided to such diverse groups as hospital business offices, insurance companies, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and various other governmental agencies.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience / training
- Two years of experience in billing, financial clearance/counseling, and/or solid organ transplant.
- Experience presenting information to large groups of people and answering questions appropriately.
- Working knowledge of eligibility and working provisions related to third party sponsors including Federal, State sponsored programs such as Medicare, Medi-cal, Medicaid, California Children Services, Tricare, HMO's, PPO's, Managed Care Groups, sufficient knowledge to appropriately refer patients and take steps to secure coverage.
- Knowledge of third- party payor and government program eligibility / authorization process to ensure appropriate timely reimbursement.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, ICD and CPT codes.
- Working knowledge of on-line registration, verification and authorization procedures.
- Skill to quickly assimilate and retain a large body of financial information.
- Ability to analyze, abstract, and compile medical information from patients records as a service to physicians, and various agencies and business offices associated with patient care; and perform other related duties as required for treatments.
