Position Description: Promotes continued student engagement within the Excel Center. Oversees, manages, trains, assists and evaluates a staff of life and career coaches as well as assists with a caseload of students. Will facilitate the team relationship and meet individually with students, if necessary, to assist in overcoming barriers to each student's educational progress. Through problem-solving sessions, suggests ways in which students can overcome barriers and continue educational progress. Additional responsibilities include training new coaches, caseload distribution, conducting informal and formal evaluations and participating on the leadership team. Works with the instructional team in meeting educational objectives and adhering to Arizona Academic Standards. Serves as a mentor to less experienced Coaches. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads by example with a caseload of students. Monitors/audits the quality and compliance of the coaching and case records and presents coach data.
- Serves on the leadership team and acts as liaison between admin and coaches.
- Responsible for performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of team members.
- Attends all team and professional development meetings.
- Develops agenda and facilitates coach team meetings.
- Requires occasional local travel/transporting individuals.
- Stays knowledgeable in every coaching area.
- Exercises creative problem-solving techniques.
- Co-teaches Senior Seminars.
- Plans and conducts coach professional development.
- Leads the intake process to introduce the student to the school and begin outlining his/her educational goals.
- Assists instructors in developing students' individual learning plans based on intake assessment.
- Becomes part of a reliable alliance and connects emotionally and socially with group members. Provides support and maintains open communication with instructors.
- Manages and monitors students' learning experiences to ensure student engagement and accomplishment of learning goals through individual and/or group meetings.
- Identifies and connects students to community resources to remove barriers and support academic and/or personal goals.
- Initiates and maintains contact with key community partners (community agencies, educational institutions and employers) to enhance the menu of support services provided to students.
- Works closely with leadership and instructional team members to support student success.
- Plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes.
- Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
- Bachelor's degree, Master's degree desired
- 5 years of experience in social work, mentoring, counseling, advising, or related field
- Experience working with at-risk students in a nontraditional setting and/or in adult education setting highly preferred
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Strong meeting facilitation skills
- Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred
- Ability to speak and read English proficiently
- Has working knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks: Google applications (specifically Gmail), Microsoft Office, Excel and Word, and Internet Explorer
- Demonstrated ability to develop relationships at all levels and relate to a diverse population
- Awareness of community resources
- Ability to embrace change positively, strong planning and organizing skills, independent, self-manager
- Outstanding role model for success
- Ability to lead and mentor a team of coaches
- Ability to gather and analyze data for informed decision making
- Must be accessible for school events, open houses, recruitment events, and fairs
- Valid driver's license and clean MVR
- Ability to pass a background check, Online Arizona Certification Information System (OACIS) check, State Board of Education Disciplinary check, fingerprint clearance card check, and drug screen
