East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) invites qualified persons to apply for a part-time position in the Natural Resources Department. The part-time Recreation Area Attendant will work up to 32 hours per week seasonally (832 hours maximum per year) and will perform a variety of duties related to public contact, customer service, and facility upkeep, especially on weekends, holidays and during the summer months. Persons in these positions MUST be able to swim since some of their duties are on or near a lake. The current part-time opening is at Lafayette Reservoir approximately 12 miles east of downtown Oakland from Highway 24. This part-time position will conclude September 21, 2025.
Typical duties of the position include:
*Providing high-quality customer service in a park setting.
*Answering visitor questions, giving directions, and applying park rules/regulations.
*Collecting parking, boating, and visitor fees.
*Cash handling and operating a POS system/cash register to sell various items.
*Renting, cleaning, and maintaining row/pedal boats and life jackets.
*Filling out forms and selling permits (i.e., annual parking permits, boat launch forms, etc.).
*Word processing, data entry, filing, scanning, copying, and email.
*Cleaning restrooms, emptying trash cans, sweeping/mopping floors.
*Performing Quagga mussel inspections for private, cartop boats.
*Working with live fishing bait such as night crawlers, etc.

1. High school graduation or its equivalent.

Other Requirements: Must be physically able to perform the critical and important duties of the job including swimming; hearing well enough to communicate in person and by telephone; seeing well enough to read small handwritten and computer-generated type; standing for one-hour stretches, performing physical work requiring coordination; and manual dexterity to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
