Who we are looking for:

ASCO is seeking a Quality Performance Improvement and Grants Intern to support quality training programs and grant-funded projects within the Care Delivery Department. The Quality Training Program (QTP) is a six-month course designed to help practices improve the quality of cancer care delivery. This internship offers the opportunity to develop practical skills in quality improvement, grant management, and program development within a collaborative and supportive environment. The intern will contribute to key initiatives like the Quality Training Program and new grant cycles, while also engaging with various stakeholders and departments within ASCO.

Internship activities include:

Program Administration:

  • Prepare, print, and distribute program materials for both winter and summer sessions.
  • Maintain inventory and organization of program supplies.
  • Process program applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage tracking documents of applicant inquiries.
  • Respond to email inquiries from applicants in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in the re-development of program surveys and applications.
  • Contribute to the improvement of program evaluation methods.

Program Logistics:

  • Assist with the logistical planning and execution of program workshops and events.
  • Communicate effectively with program participants, faculty, volunteers, and staff.
  • Provide on-site support during program activities.
  • Process faculty and volunteer reimbursements accurately and efficiently.
  • Manage invoicing for workshops and related activities.
  • Assist in the contracting process for 1-day workshops.
  • Perform follow up tasks as needed.

Grant Support:

  • Perform grant-related projects and administrative tasks as assigned.

Required qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.
  • Project coordination experience
  • Experience with project management applications (e.g., Smartsheet)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs
  • Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism
  • Willingness to enhance skills

Duration:10weeksduring thesummer - June 9, 2025, to August 15, 2025. This internship is37.5hours per week.

Compensation:Thissummerinternship position is paid at a rate of $20/hour for actual hours worked. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy.

Location:This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite the majority of the time with some offsite work flexibility. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense. If you are not able to work at ASCO Headquarters, please do not apply.
