What You'll Do

As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will manage, plan, coordinate and direct H&S activities at manufacturing, transport, distribution and field service sites to reduce risk of employee injury, community impact and property loss. You will provide Point of Contact interface and services to Business Unit General Manager and Management Team in relation to ensure all aspects of Regulatory compliance, H&S and Security are adhered to. Other duties include:

  • Support field Operations and Business Unit leadership with development and implementation of sustainable management strategies to achieve Company H&S management system objectives..
  • Facilitate incident investigation and root cause analysis activities to continually reduce risk and improve
    Company performance.
  • Provide training to employees focused on all aspects of H&S activities and expectations
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, teambuilding workshops and special working groups to continually improve performance and replicate best practices
  • Responsible for implementation of corporate standards regarding H&S.
  • Provide leadership and direction to all echelons of employees to continue to shape a world class safety culture
  • Provide analysis and support for office and field staff; providing safety support through active participation and guidance on how to perform site work tasks.
  • Develop employee understanding and use of personal risk assessments, Job Step Analysis and formal risk assessments
  • Act as a liaison with government entities when and where required (DOT, FMCSA ATF, MSHA, OSHA, EPA).
  • Enhancement and execution of strategic campaigns to improve the HSEC Management System standards, implementation, embedding and verifying effectiveness.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Safety Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred. Industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Professional certification desired. (CDS, CSP or CIH)
  • Commercial motor vehicle fleet technologies experience preferred.
  • Proficient in various computer platforms including but not limited to Microsoft Suite, Velocity EHS platform and ELD platforms.
  • 5+ years H&S experience in DOT Haz-Mat Bulk and Non-bulk explosive products, or field service-related industry involving transportation. Commercial explosives and/or mining industry experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Occupational Safety and Health, Health and Safety Management or engineering. Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations.
  • Valid CDL with HAZMAT endorsements, Smith System Instructor preferred, but not required.
  • Requires 50% travel
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
