Job Overview:

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing the procurement of materials and products necessary for the company's operations. This role involves strategic planning to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, be detail-oriented, and have experience in inventory management and supplier negotiation. Develop and execute purchasing strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure on-time delivery of materials.

Responsibilities:


  • Analyze market trends and apply this insight to make informed purchasing decisions.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate contracts and obtain favorable terms, including pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.

  • Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, evaluating their performance and compliance with company standards.

  • Conduct regular inventory assessments and reconcile any discrepancies.

  • Implement cost-reduction initiatives and efficiency improvements within the supply chain.

  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure materials meet specifications and quality standards.

  • Prepare purchase orders and review requisitions for goods and services.

  • Resolve supply chain issues, such as delays or quality concerns, in a timely and effective manner.



Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field and 3+ years of experience in a buyer or planner role, in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of supply chain management concepts and best practices.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to analyze data and provide insights into supply chain efficiency.

  • Core Competencies:

  • Ability to work in an office and/or manufacturing facility.

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.

  • Exposure to manufacturing areas where the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.



Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:

This position will be based at our office in Alsip, IL office, with minimal anticipated travel.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
