Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAP Technical Lead to join our team. In this critical role, you will lead and guide technical teams (internal developer and external consultants) in the successful implementation and integration of SAP solutions across various projects, including S/4HANA transformations, cloud integrations, and platform implementations.

This role will lead delivery and support of the SAP ecosystem of products that support our Manufacturing, Procurement, Plant Operations, Financial and Warehouse Management functions. This includes directly working on and successfully completing assigned projects and tasks, as this is a "hands on" lead position.

The work will include working with the PMO and the functional team in leading the DEV side of the production support/sustainment work, implementing new features/modules in the SAP landscape as well as leading the development effort on upgrading the software.

This job role will need to communicate effectively with the developers as well as functional users/end users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise:



  • Provide in-depth technical expertise in areas such as SAP ABAP, PI/PO, Fiori and BTP
  • Review of Technical deliverables - RICEFW: Do a detailed review of RICEF deliverables - review of Functional specs before handing over to the technical team, review technical steps written by the DEV team.


System Development:



  • Lead the development and implementation of SAP systems, ensuring alignment with business needs and best practices. Strong focus on keeping a clean core as far as the SAP ecosystem is concerned. Keeping custom development within SAP to as low a level as possible.
  • Integration Architecture: Guide functional teams in building functional designs and support the development of technical designs.


Project Delivery:



  • Partner with the team to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget, adhering to established methodologies and best practices.


Communication & Collaboration:



  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior executives.


Problem-Solving:



  • Analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and develop and implement effective solutions.


Production Support:



  • Manage production incidents through proactive analysis and problem resolution to improve processes and systems.


Quality:



  • Ensuring deliverables meet quality assurance expectations by reinforcing peer reviews, review of Unit test documents, etc.


Lead and Mentor:



  • Guide and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment, and review and finalize Design specs written by the team.


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering, preferred, and at least 6 years of experience in SAP Application development (S4/Hana experience highly preferred).
  • 4-6 years' experience in leading an SAP dev team and in continuously improving work products.
  • Strong understanding of system development lifecycles (SDLC), including Agile and Kanban methodologies.
  • A deep understanding of the following technologies and practice areas is required:

    • ABAP programming in SAP S/4HANA, including Fiori, BPC, CRM, and TPM
    • Integration across systems - preferably API driven and using SAP BTP
    • Cloud Computing
    • Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio


  • Experience in a Food and Beverage industry will be preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a medium to large multi-location company, operating multiple shifts on a 7 x 24 basis, with a centralized IT function strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with a central IT PMO in managing complex projects, also able to independently manage small to medium projects.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidate will be expected to communicate to employees, management and suppliers via face-to-face meetings, conference calls, written messages, and application documentation.
