Job Location: Hershey, PA Summary: The Automation Engineer will be a member of the Physical Automation Engineering group, supporting the Global Operations Engineering Group. This role is based in Hershey, PA, and provides hands-on exposure to automation technologies, including robotics, machine vision, and digital solutions. The engineer will assist in various phases of engineering projects, from conceptual design and feasibility studies to system installation and operational transition. This position requires domestic travel (30-40%) to support business needs. Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting technical analyses, feasibility studies, and cost estimates for automation projects.
- Support the design, testing, and implementation of automation solutions under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participate in system installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at manufacturing sites.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including technical manuals, maintenance guides, and operational reports.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support automation implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Learn and apply best practices in robotics, machine vision, and industrial automation.
Qualifications:
- Strong problem-solving skills with an eagerness to learn.
- Basic understanding of automation, robotics, and control systems (coursework or project experience preferred).
- Ability to analyze engineering challenges and contribute to solutions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic engineering software (AutoCAD, MATLAB, or similar is a plus).
- Ability to work collaboratively in team-oriented environments.
- Willingness to travel (30-40%) for project-related assignments.
Experience & Education:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Engineering Technology.
- Experience: Internship, co-op, or academic project experience related to automation or manufacturing is preferred.
