Role Overview:

The Performance Guarantee (PG) program is a key part of the group benefits operating model. We are seeking expertise to expand and optimize the PG program data analysis practice. Ultimately the goal is to provide a best-in-class PG program that meets broker and employer needs while maturing the program to gain efficiencies and minimize risk to the business.

The Performance Guarantee Senior Data Analyst role will partner closely with stakeholders across several departments and with peers on the PG team to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality data analysis and reporting.

What You'll Do:

  • Analyze and standardize program metrics to monitor overall health, track trends, and identify next-generation, customer-centric, or non-traditional performance indicators.
  • Assess and identify gaps in existing performance guarantee reports and metrics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Claims, Service, VOC, QCOE & QPSS, etc.) to foster continuous improvements in reporting and the PG program.
  • Establish strategic program performance reviews and enhancement of PG offerings with key partners.
  • Evaluate and implement tools or technologies to centralize and improve reporting capabilities.
  • Conduct research and analysis on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to PG metrics and reporting.
  • Sanitize data files along with performing/communicating root cause(s) of errors when fallout occurs.
  • In collaboration with the PG analysts, contribute to the development and analysis of key metrics dashboard that promotes PG program health to the broader New York Life executive leadership team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years of professional experience performing data analysis and/or data analytics as core duties.
  • High School diploma required with BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience strongly preferred. Computer Science degree is viewed as a potential education differentiator.
  • Knowledge of PG principles, risk assessment methodologies, regulatory requirements, and NYL insurance products is preferred.
  • Expert level capabilities with MS Excel, Access, Tableau, Power BI or equivalent system(s).
  • Significant experience performing large file data analysis, trend assessment, and root cause problem solving is required.
  • Experience with SQL, Business Objects, and other data warehouse query functions is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform complex data analysis functions in Excel including reviewing and sanitizing text delimited files, V, H & X-lookups, and pivot tables.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with a keen ability to translate large data analysis and observations into comprehensive yet concise messaging to a non-data savvy audience.
  • Has an affinity for innovation to find new and better ways to consume data to ease customer burden while enhancing the overall experience.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset by being adaptable, agile, and willing to change course in trying new ways of working.
  • An ability to connect technical aspects of the work to the customer orientation & service excellence mission of empathic service with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strong organization skills with an ability to adapt to competing priorities.
  • Ability to query databases ad hoc to provide customer experience insights.
  • May be required to educate and influence Account teams & Distribution partners on the importance of PG standards to deliver on the service model commitment.

Pay Transparency

Salary range:$75,300-$110,000

Overtime eligible:Exempt

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
